District Heights Man Arrested in Calvert County for Multiple Verizon Store Robberies
Melsun Shamel Perry, 34, of District Heights, was arrested Feb. 10 in Calvert County after investigators tied him to Verizon store robberies in Dunkirk and Lusby that cut demo phones from mounts.

Melsun Shamel Perry, 34, of District Heights, was apprehended and taken into custody Feb. 10, 2026, in Calvert County after investigators linked him to multiple robberies at Verizon Wireless stores in Dunkirk and Lusby. Calvert County detectives say the crimes targeted cell-phone retail businesses and that the inquiry expanded as evidence surfaced tying Perry to additional offenses.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook, "Perry has been charged in Calvert County with: armed robbery; robbery; first-degree assault; second-degree assault; organized retail theft; malicious destruction of property (over $1,000); fourth-degree burglary (tools and theft); Theft ($1,500 to under $25,000)." The BayNet reports Perry “is being held without bond in Calvert County.”
Authorities tied Perry to a Dec. 29, 2025 incident at the Verizon Wireless store in Dunkirk where, investigators say, demo cellphones were cut from display mounts. The BayNet reported stolen and destroyed items in that case included an iPhone 17 Pro Max valued at $834.17, an iPhone Pro valued at $765.42, three display security mounts valued at $1,500, and an iPhone Air valued at $999.
Calvert County prosecutors also linked Perry to a Feb. 3, 2026 robbery at the Verizon Wireless location at 11737 HG Trueman Road in Lusby. The sheriff’s office Facebook post lists the Dec. 29 Dunkirk incident and the Feb. 3 Lusby incident as the basis for the Calvert County charges against Perry; investigators described the series as crimes targeting cell phone retail businesses.

In addition to the Calvert County charges, the sheriff’s office said Perry faced more than 20 outstanding warrants from jurisdictions in Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland for similar offenses. The Facebook announcement included engagement from the public — the scraped post showed 258 reactions, 95 comments, and 36 shares — and the agency titled the update "Arrest Made in Cell Phone Store Robberies."
The BayNet quoted sheriff’s office material noting the probe broadened as evidence supported more serious counts: “The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation expanded beyond theft charges after evidence supported additional counts, including armed robbery, robbery, assault, and organized retail theft.” No booking number, scheduled court dates, or statements from defense counsel were included in the available law-enforcement posting or reporting.
Regional law-enforcement records and local media show other cellphone-targeted robberies in the broader Washington area in late 2025 and early 2026, but those incidents have not been tied to Perry. For example, WJLA reported daytime robberies at a T‑Mobile at 5424 Silver Hill Road in District Heights and an AT&T store in Southeast D.C.; MPD later arrested a different District Heights resident, Kevin Syrkes, in a separate November 2025 snatch case. Those matters remain distinct from the Calvert County charges listed against Perry.
