Dodgers Make First Spring Cuts, Reassign 11 Non-Roster Invitees To Camelback Ranch
Dodgers reassigned 11 non-roster invitees, including Keston Hiura and Patrick Copen, to minor-league camp at Camelback Ranch as their first round of spring cuts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers reassigned 11 non-roster invitees to minor-league camp at Camelback Ranch, moving pitchers Patrick Copen, Luke Fox, Jerming Rosario, Adam Serwinowski, Nick Frasso and Jose Rodriguez; catchers Nelson Quiroz and Chuckie Robinson; infielders Keston Hiura and Matt Gorski; and outfielder Chris Newell. The moves were announced March 2, 2026 as the club’s first round of Spring Training cuts.
The reassignment was posted by the team and amplified across beat accounts. The Dodgers’ official tweet read, “The Dodgers have reassigned pitchers Patrick Copen, Luke Fox, Jerming Rosario, Adam Serwinowski, Nick Frasso and Jose Rodriguez, catchers Nelson Quiroz and Chuckie Robinson, infielders Keston Hiura and Matt Gorski and outfielder Chris Newell to Minor League camp.” Dodger Blue and reporter Fabian Ardaya posted the same list the same day.
Truebluela noted that all 11 were non-roster invitees and Dodger Blue reported that after the moves the club’s spring roster stood at 65 players - 35 position players and 30 pitchers. Dodgersnation added that the big-league club was 7-3 entering Monday’s game against the Rockies as the organization began trimming its Camelback Ranch camp.
Several of the reassigned pitchers had seen Cactus League action. Truebluela reported that 24-year-old Patrick Copen split 2025 between High-A and Double-A, posted a 3.59 ERA in 27 starts and led Dodgers minor-league pitchers with 152 strikeouts; Copen allowed two runs in two innings over two spring appearances. Dodger Blue confirmed that Adam Serwinowski, acquired at last year’s trade deadline, struck out four batters in two scoreless appearances this spring. Luke Fox and Jerming Rosario also “saw time” in Cactus League games, while Dodger Blue and Truebluela noted that Nick Frasso and Jose Rodriguez had not yet appeared in spring games. Dodgersnation reported Rodriguez finished 2025 with Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting a 4.71 ERA in 37 games and ending the year on the injured list.

Position-player cuts included a mix of recent big-league experience and minor-league pedigree. Keston Hiura signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers in mid-February and appeared in seven Cactus League games, hitting one home run, Dodger Blue reported. Dodgersway added that Hiura was hit on the hand by a pitch Saturday and removed from a game against the Cubs, though the severity of the injury “is still unclear.” Nelson Quiroz appeared in two spring games and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts; Dodgersnation noted he posted a .834 OPS across High-A and Double-A in 2025. Chris Newell was active the first nine days of camp and appeared in six games, collecting two hits including a home run in 11 at-bats, per Truebluela. Chuckie Robinson had played one game with the Dodgers last season but had not appeared in a Cactus League game this spring, and Matt Gorski managed 15 big-league games with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2025, Dodgersnation reported.
Dodgersnation also pointed out that only three of the 11 reassigned players featured in MLB last season - Chuckie Robinson, Matt Gorski and Keston Hiura - underscoring that these cuts primarily clear space among organizational depth pieces. FanSided framed the moves as part of the long odds non-roster invitees face in spring, calling Hiura’s demotion a “tough break.”
With the first wave of cuts complete, the next items to watch are medical updates on Hiura’s hand and Rodriguez’s readiness coming off last season’s injured list, plus how front-office plans place Copen and Serwinowski into pitching roles in the minors. The Dodgers will continue to use Camelback Ranch to sort depth as the regular season approaches.
