Douglas County BOE hosts public dyslexia simulation Feb. 17 study session
A dyslexia simulation will be held during the Douglas County BOE study session Feb. 17 at DCSD Legacy Campus; seating is first-come and the session will not be live-streamed.

A dyslexia simulation will be part of the Douglas County School District Board of Education study session scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The district calendar lists the meeting as "BOE | Study Session" at DCSD Legacy Campus, 10035 S. Peoria Street, Lone Tree, CO 80134, noting Rooms 245 & 247 as the event locations. The original notice states, "The session includes a dyslexia simulation open to the public, though not live-streamed. Space is available on a first-come basis."
The district's internal events calendar reiterates access and format: "\This Board Study Session is open to the public to attend and will not be live streamed. A dyslexia simulation will be conducted and the public is available to join based on seats available." Because the calendar is the only source listing Rooms 245 & 247, those room assignments will determine where attendees should go inside the Legacy Campus building.
The decision not to stream the session carries practical implications for participation. With the calendar language that the session "will not be live streamed" and the original notice that "Space is available on a first-come basis," community members who cannot travel to 10035 S. Peoria Street or who arrive after seating fills will not be able to observe the simulation remotely. The district's 2025-2026 Board schedule notes that "Meetings begin at 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted on the meeting agenda," and also records that, unless otherwise posted, BOE meetings are usually held at the Wilcox Board Room, 620 Wilcox Street, Castle Rock, Colorado; the schedule was "APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION: April 22, 2025."
DCSD promoted the study session on social platforms with posts that echo the calendar listing. The district's Facebook and Instagram posts use the line, "The DCSD Board of Education will hold a Study Session on Tuesday, February 17 at 5:00 p.m. at the DCSD Legacy Campus at 10035 S. Peoria," while an X post emphasized access and streaming status: "*This session is open to the public to attend and will not be live-streamed. A dyslexia simulation will be conducted & the public can join," (text as posted).

The Legacy Campus is hosting a cluster of district events in February, per the DCSD calendar. Nearby sessions include the DCSD Women in Sports Luncheon on Feb. 13 at 12:00 PM, the DCSD 2026 Spelling Bee on Feb. 7 at 10:00 AM, and a BOE regular meeting on Feb. 10 at 5:00 PM, all at 10035 S. Peoria Street, Lone Tree. The calendar also lists a State of the Town of Parker event at the Legacy Campus on Feb. 25 at 3:00 PM.
The district calendar is the primary source for the Feb. 17 details, including address and room numbers, and notes that variations to the schedule "may occur and can be confirmed on the BOE webpage of the District website." The session is open to the public, but attendees should plan for in-person arrival to claim seating in Rooms 245 and 247.
