Dutch Bros Opens Fireside Double Drive-Thru on Auburn Boulevard, Citrus Heights

Dutch Bros opened a new two-lane, double-stack drive-thru called the "Fireside" Dutch Bros at 7911 Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights, California, on March 2, 2026, creating a kiosk that WhatNow lists at 827 square feet and designed to accommodate up to 22 cars before narrowing to a single lane at the window. The site sits at Auburn Boulevard and Grand Oaks Boulevard in the same parking lot as Steve Cook’s Fireside Lanes, a connection the chain leaned into with an interior neon orange "Fireside" sign.

Local franchisee Steve Grubbs filed plans under Grubbs Investments, LLC for the Auburn Boulevard site during the planning phase, and WhatNow reported that, at that time, "Steve and his wife, Nikol, already operate six Dutch Bros shops in Sacramento, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Antelope, and Citrus Heights, making this their third location in Citrus Heights." Opening-day coverage in the Citrus Heights Sentinel and LuxCafeClub described Grubbs as owning seven locations and planning further expansion, a sequence that places the Auburn Boulevard outlet as Grubbs’s seventh shop.

The kiosk occupies the former Rally’s Burgers drive-thru, with LuxCafeClub noting the coffee shop's look: "The coffee shop is themed with a black and white checkered design," and that it "pays tribute to the previous Rally’s location." Citrus Heights Sentinel documented the repaint to navy blue, black and white checkered wallpaper inside, checkered additions to employee uniforms, and patio tables painted dark blue with a checkered pattern on top. The Sentinel also noted red, black, and white balloon columns and music during the grand opening festivities.

WhatNow detailed the drive-thru engineering: a "clever drive-thru design will allow for double stacking, accommodating up to 22 cars before narrowing to a single lane at the window," and the layout "will also feature an escape lane to help keep traffic moving on busy days." LuxCafeClub and the Sentinel both reported the location includes a walk-up ordering window and outdoor patio seating in addition to the two drive-thru lanes.

Owner Grubbs framed the launch as thematic, saying, "Every Dutch Bros celebrates its grand openings with a theme." He also told the Sentinel, "The black and white checkered theme should continue to remain the shop’s theme." Staff told the Sentinel that the opening had been announced on their social media channels and that "business had been good throughout the morning."

Menu offerings track the chain’s regional staples: LuxCafeClub described "classic coffee drinks, energy drinks, and protein coffees, with online ordering available," while WhatNow highlighted two popular picks by name, the Golden Eagle, consisting of "espresso, caramel, vanilla, and half and half with a caramel drizzle," and the Aftershock Rebel, "a fruity blend of strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, and lime syrups mixed into a Rebel energy drink." LuxCafeClub reported the city of Citrus Heights was "supportive in the permitting process," while WhatNow said updates to the 827-square-foot kiosk "will mostly involve a fresh coat of paint, new signage, and minor interior tweaks," language that differs from LuxCafeClub’s "significant renovations" phrase but aligns with the site's cosmetic overhaul.

The Auburn Boulevard "Fireside" Dutch Bros is open after its March 2 grand opening and represents an expanded Dutch Bros footprint in Citrus Heights under the Grubbs franchise group.
