East Central Indiana Sectionals: Live Scores, Girls and Boys Results
Monroe Central beat host Union City 49-11 to repeat as Class 1A Sectional 56 champions, the Golden Bears' 11th sectional and first back-to-back since 1983-84.

Monroe Central closed Sectional 56 with a 49-11 rout of host Union City, capturing its second straight Class 1A sectional crown and the program’s 11th sectional title. The victory, reported by the Muncie Star Press, marks Monroe Central’s first back-to-back sectional championships since 1983-84 and came in the sectional final played Saturday, Feb. 7.
Pendleton Heights took the Class 4A Sectional 9 championship at home, beating Greenfield-Central 66-42. Pendleton Heights opened the bracket with a 60-39 win over Mt. Vernon (Fortville) and routed Richmond 80-30 in a semifinal, while Greenfield-Central advanced via a 50-13 win over Muncie Central and a 53-38 semifinal victory over Anderson before falling in the final.
Connersville won the Class 3A Sectional 24 title at Yorktown, downing Delta 56-45. Connersville reached the final with a 50-30 victory over Hamilton Heights and a 47-30 semifinal win over Yorktown. Delta advanced past Jay County 58-49 after Jay County beat New Castle 55-46 in an earlier round.
In Class 1A Sectional 55 at Southern Wells, North Miami defeated Southwood 50-27 to claim the sectional. North Miami’s path included a 44-42 win over Daleville and a 47-40 semifinal victory over Northfield, while Southwood reached the final after a 57-9 victory over Wes-Del and a 50-47 semifinal win over host Southern Wells, which had beaten Cowan 47-20 earlier.

The Muncie Star Press noted that Delta, Wapahani and Shenandoah each reached their sectional finals but fell short. Delta’s loss to Connersville is recorded at 56-45; Wapahani lost to Alexandria-Monroe and Shenandoah lost to Union County, though the final scores for Alexandria-Monroe over Wapahani and Union County over Shenandoah were not included in the release.
Boys sectional play across the state is beginning with live scoreboard coverage available from local outlets. The Star Press is providing scoreboard updates for IHSAA boys basketball sectionals in East Central Indiana as tournament play starts, while IndyStar is running a statewide boys sectional schedule and scoreboard and will host a Tuesday-night postgame show, Talkin' Hoops Live with Kyle Neddenriep, to break down opening-night results. IndyStar’s sectional hosts include Sectional 55 at Wes-Del and Sectional 56 at Cambridge City for boys, a different host arrangement than the girls brackets.
Sectional champions Pendleton Heights, Connersville, North Miami and Monroe Central move on to regional assignments in the IHSAA postseason. For the girls brackets detailed by the Muncie Star Press, those four teams leave East Central Indiana as sectional champions heading into regional play.
