Bath bombs are delicate, seasonal gift items that can fizzle out before they reach customers when packaging is left to chance. Begin with primary protection. Individually wrap each bomb in shrink film, cello, or resealable biodegradable bags to keep humidity away from fizz and scent. For fragile or single-piece novelty bombs, add a thin inner paper wrap plus a sealed bag to lock out moisture and prevent surface scuffing. For multi-piece sets, make each unit a self-contained parcel inside the main package so an opened box still looks tidy.
Don’t let bombs knock together. Use partitioned boxes, molded pulp trays, or recycled paper shredding to separate items. For boxed sets, fit foam inserts or cardboard dividers so each bomb rests in its own compartment. The goal is to eliminate contact points where bumps and drops translate into cracks.

The box should be slightly larger than the packed contents to allow cushioning but not so big that items shift. Fill voids with kraft paper or molded pulp rather than loose plastic peanuts to keep things eco-friendly and secure.
Control moisture and temperature. In humid climates, include desiccant sachets to protect dry-bath formulations. If products include butters or melts that soften, avoid routing overnight shipments during heat waves to prevent softening in transit. For international shipments, treat bath bombs as cosmetics for customs declarations and have an ingredients list ready for carriers.

Label for careful handling and clear returns. Mark boxes “Fragile” and indicate “This side up” when packing orientation matters. Stagger heavier components to the bottom and fragile bombs on top with padding. Include simple care and use instructions with each order so customers know how to store products. Maintain a clear returns and refund policy and be ready to re-ship replacements. Photograph new batches and packaging steps to speed investigations when damage claims arise.
Make sustainability practical. Use recyclable or compostable cushioning such as molded pulp and kraft paper, label materials clearly, and give customers the option to skip outer gift boxes for lower-cost, sustainable shipping. For carrier selection and insurance, pick carriers with good handling reputations, insure higher-value orders, set realistic transit timelines, and negotiate supplier packaging solutions if you ship at volume to lower per-unit cost.
Implementing this checklist keeps the fizz intact, reduces headaches, and improves repeat business. Start by testing one packaging change per week, track damage rates, and iterate until your pack-and-ship routine becomes as reliable as your recipe.
