Ex-Girlfriend and Alleged Hired Gunman Arrested in Murder of Aaron Parr
Two people were arrested in connection with the Jan. 13 homicide of Aaron Parr at a Murrieta apartment; arrests and charging language raise questions about a possible financial motive.

Two people have been arrested in the death of 30-year-old Aaron Parr, who was found dead inside his Murrieta apartment on Jan. 13, law enforcement said. Murrieta Police Department announced the arrests and released a booking photo of one suspect as investigators continue an active homicide probe.
Murrieta police said that officers responded to The Arbors at California Oaks apartments, in the 24000 block of Jackson Avenue, at about 9:13 a.m. on Jan. 13. “Upon arrival, officers located an adult male deceased inside an apartment. Based on preliminary information, the circumstances surrounding the death were investigated as a homicide,” the department said. The victim was identified as Aaron Parr, 30, who lived at the complex.
Authorities arrested Ignacia Cadaos Perkins, 40, of Murrieta, and James Lawrence Petri, 43, of Birmingham, Alabama, on Jan. 29 and announced the arrests on Feb. 2. Perkins was booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside County and remains in custody in California. Petri was taken into custody in Birmingham and is being held at the Jefferson County Detention Center in Bessemer while authorities work on extradition to California.
Public reporting described the two in several ways: both were arrested on murder and conspiracy-related charges, and some charging language cited by authorities includes allegations of “murder for financial gain” or “murder for financial or other consideration.” Specific phrasings reported include “murder and criminal conspiracy to commit murder,” “first-degree murder, murder for financial gain, and criminal conspiracy to commit homicide,” and arrests “on suspicion of committing murder for financial or other considerations and for taking part in a conspiracy.” At the same time, police have not publicly laid out a detailed motive beyond the language used in the charges.

Murrieta Police Department released a booking photo for Ignacia Cadaos Perkins; no booking photo for James Petri has been released. The investigation remains active, and authorities asked anyone with information to contact Detective Leitch at 951-461-6353 or submit anonymous tips through the department’s tip portal. Investigators have not publicly released cause of death, autopsy findings, or detailed evidence tying the suspects to the scene.
For the True Crime community and local residents, this case underscores how charges can include specific theories such as financial motivation even as investigators withhold operational details while building a case. Neighbors at The Arbors at California Oaks and anyone with information about Parr’s contacts or recent dealings should reach out to Detective Leitch; timely tips can help speed extradition and charging processes, and may prompt prosecutors to file formal charges or disclose more evidence. Watch for court filings, extradition updates, and statements from the Riverside County District Attorney for the next clear milestones in the case.
