An Arizona man has been identified and charged in connection with an early morning burglary at the WaFd Bank branch at 1501 San Juan Blvd. in Farmington.

According to court records and a statement of probable cause, Juan Treveno Day, 25, of Fort Defiance, Arizona, was arrested and charged with fourth degree felony nonresidential burglary.

Farmington Police were dispatched to the bank at 2:04 a.m. on Feb. 18, 2026, after a motion sensor inside the break room triggered an alarm. When officers arrived, they found a maintenance style door unlocked. Police conducted an initial search of the building but did not locate a suspect. A K9 unit performed a second sweep of the bank, and the building was cleared after no one was found inside.

Officers then expanded their search to Berg Park, located next to the bank, and contacted Day on the Riverwalk. He was initially trespassed from the property and allowed to leave.

After reviewing security footage from inside the bank, investigators determined that the suspect matched Day’s description. Court records describe the suspect as a heavier set male wearing a white Champion hoodie.

Video surveillance reportedly shows Day walking around the bank beginning at approximately 1:54 a.m., including peering through the drive through window. At about 1:59 a.m., he allegedly gained access to the building. Footage shows him moving through the teller stations and actively grabbing and pulling on a large silver currency vault door.

Day was later located and arrested at 3:31 a.m. outside Buffalo Wild Wings on East Main Street, according to court records.

When questioned by police, Day allegedly stated that the door was wide open and that he did not steal anything. He reportedly told officers that the drawers only contained paper and admitted that it is always about the money when asked if he had been looking for cash.

Authorities have not reported any confirmed property loss or damage inside the bank. No injuries were reported.

Day was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center and released on Feb. 18. He was ordered to appear at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 25 for a preliminary hearing in Farmington Magistrate Court.

The charge filed is listed as fourth degree felony nonresidential burglary. Court records do not specify additional counts. Further proceedings in Magistrate Court will determine how the case moves forward.
