farmington scored 31 runs in two shutouts at Ricketts Park, beating Kirtland Central 11-0 and 20-0 on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Farmington High opened its home schedule at Ricketts Park with a dominant doubleheader sweep of Kirtland Central, recording shutouts of 11-0 and 20-0 on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The pair of wins gave the Scorpions an early-season boost and showcased depth across the lineup and bullpen.
Game 1 turned in the second inning when Farmington erupted for seven runs to take control. Senior Danny Hagstrom and freshman Davis Porch each went 2-for-3 in the opener, and Porch drove in two runs to spark the surge. Farmington’s pitching staff limited the Broncos to one hit and no runs to seal the 11-0 shutout; Kirtland Central senior Mathias Veith finished the game 1-for-2.
In Game 2 the Scorpions maintained control early, scoring four runs on three hits through two innings before adding more in the third. Wyatt Boognl scored for the second time in the third inning on a LaTavien Howard double; Boognl finished with one of his four runs in the contest. Farmington rolled to a 20-0 decision, using explosive finishing innings to seal the nightcap. For Kirtland Central, junior Chance Aspaas went 3-for-3 and Jakob Little finished 2-for-3, providing offensive bright spots despite the shutout losses.

Roster records list several contributors and provide context for the Scorpions’ depth. The roster shows #12 Wyatt Boognl, 1B, L/R, 2026, 6-2, 200, Farmington; #24 Latavien Howard, 3B, R/R, 2026, 5-7, 158, Piedra Vista, Farmington, NM; #33 Calob Schofield, SS, R/R, 2026, 5-7, 145, Farmington, NM; and #17 Santiago Long, C, R/R, 2024, 5-9, 185, Farmington, NM, Lamar CC. Game accounts identify Howard as a senior who doubled in Game 2 while roster listings spell the name Latavien and show Piedra Vista as his high school; that discrepancy remains noted for verification.
“The winning team is just going to be who executes the game better and plays fundamental baseball,” King said. “We talked about it and made adjustments — we’re not chasing their pitches. We’re looking for good pitches we want to hit and putting good swings on them.” The source attribution provides only the surname King.

Farmington will travel to the Hobbs Invite on Thursday to take on Carlsbad in the first round, testing the Scorpions against non-district competition on the road. Kirtland Central is scheduled to look for a bounce-back at the Aztec Invite against Deming, which also begins Thursday at Fred Cook Stadium. Softball scoreboard notes from the same slate included Kirtland Central 2, Farmington 1, and Los Lunas 7, Aztec 5.
Later in the season Farmington won a separate doubleheader at Ricketts Park against crosstown rival Piedra Vista, 4-0 and 8-4 in eight innings, snapping a four-game losing streak and moving the Scorpions to a 13-12 overall mark and 5-5 in District; that stretch left Farmington ranked 15th in the 5A classification heading into the week and likely positioned to contend for a state tournament berth. The March 3 sweep at home, however, was an emphatic early statement of both offensive firepower and pitching depth for Farmington.
