Forsyth County Safe Theft Exceeds $600K; Terry Cajamarca-Grijalba Charged
A safe holding more than $600,000 in cash, gold and luxury items was stolen from a Forsyth County home; a suspect has been charged and the investigation continues.

A high-value burglary that emptied a home's safe of more than $600,000 in cash, gold and luxury items has led to felony charges and highlighted security and community concerns across Forsyth County. Investigators say the burglary occurred at a residence on Jockey Way and has left neighbors and homeowners reassessing home security and emergency alert systems.
Deputies responded after a burglary alarm was triggered around midday in September 2024. The homeowners had left for work at about 9:50 a.m. and received an alarm notification at 12:08 p.m., returning immediately to find a safe removed from an upstairs closet. Investigators estimate the total loss exceeds $600,000, including $150,000 in cash, foreign currency, gold bars, luxury watches, designer handbags and fine jewelry.
Surveillance provided by a neighbor showed a gold-colored van pulling into the driveway at about 12:05 p.m., and footage from inside the home captured one suspect entering. Investigators later identified the vehicle as an older model gold Honda Odyssey. More internal footage suggested the suspects may have used a Wi-Fi jamming device that interfered with the home’s alarm communications, a tactic law enforcement says can delay notification and reduce the chance of rapid response.
On Jan. 22, 2026, investigators identified 28-year-old Terry Cajamarca-Grijalba as one of the suspects; he is facing felony first-degree burglary in the Forsyth County case. Cajamarca was arrested in February 2025 in Union County, North Carolina, alongside Joiner Jhosuet Cortes Morales and Cristian Hernan Pirajan-Rivera. All three, described by authorities as foreign nationals from Colombia, are being held at the York County Detention Center in South Carolina under secured bonds of $300,000 each. Union County officials said the suspects have criminal histories spanning multiple states and are wanted for numerous burglary-related offenses across the United States. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that Cajamarca is being held on an ICE detainer; local authorities say the other two suspects also face detainers.

Beyond the immediate financial loss, the case raises broader public concerns about organized burglary tactics, cross-jurisdictional crime and the use of electronic countermeasures like jamming devices. For many residents, the theft represents not just a material loss but a blow to personal security and peace of mind. The involvement of federal immigration detainers also underscores tensions between public safety efforts and trust in law enforcement among immigrant communities.
The investigation into the Jockey Way burglary remains ongoing. Forsyth County residents should remain vigilant, review home security and alarm reliability, and report suspicious activity to law enforcement as authorities pursue charges and potential court proceedings.
