Gerber recalls Arrowroot Biscuits nationwide over soft plastic, paper contamination
Gerber has recalled limited 5.5-oz Arrowroot Biscuits nationwide after a supplier's recall for possible soft plastic and paper pieces; check packages and avoid feeding to children.

Gerber Products Company has initiated a voluntary nationwide recall of limited batches of its 5.5-ounce Arrowroot Biscuits after an arrowroot flour supplier recalled flour over the potential presence of soft plastic and/or paper pieces. The company said the action is being taken out of an abundance of caution and that no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.
Affected packages can be identified by a 10-digit batch code printed on the back of the package and by Best Before dates. Gerber said the recalled lots were produced between July 2025 and September 2025 and that affected packages carry Best Before dates from Oct. 16, 2026 through Dec. 16, 2026. The company advised consumers to check the 10-digit batch code on the back of the package prior to the Best Before date and to return impacted product to the retailer for a refund. Gerber added, "We are no longer working with the flour supplier." The company also stated, "While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, we are acting out of an abundance of caution following a recall from the supplier," and apologized for the inconvenience.
For quick verification, the full list of affected 10-digit batch codes and Best Before dates includes: 5198565504 (Oct. 16, 2026); 5202565504 (Oct. 20, 2026); 5203565504 (Oct. 21, 2026); 5204565504 (Oct. 22, 2026); 5205565504 (Oct. 23, 2026); 5209565504 (Oct. 27, 2026); 5210565504 (Oct. 28, 2026); 5211565504 (Oct. 29, 2026); 5233565504 (Nov. 20, 2026); 5238565504 (Nov. 25, 2026); 5239565504 (Nov. 26, 2026); 5239565505 (Nov. 26, 2026); 5240565505 (Nov. 27, 2026); 5245565505 (Dec. 2, 2026); 5246565505 (Dec. 3, 2026); 5251565505 (Dec. 8, 2026); 5252565505 (Dec. 9, 2026); 5253565505 (Dec. 10, 2026); 5254565505 (Dec. 11, 2026); 5258565505 (Dec. 15, 2026); and 5259565505 (Dec. 16, 2026).
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is involved and has urged consumers to check product packaging for the listed batch codes. Local and state health officials have been working with retailers to remove recalled product from shelves; a state health alert that referenced national chains named Walmart, Target and Longs Drugs noted those stores distributed recalled packages in that particular region. Consumers with concerns about injury or illness are advised to contact a healthcare provider and to call 911 for emergencies.
Cumberland County parents and caregivers should check pantries for the 5.5-ounce Arrowroot Biscuits and verify the 10-digit batch code and Best Before date before serving them to children. Affected packages can be returned to the place of purchase for reimbursement or thrown away if consumers prefer; for product questions Gerber provides consumer support at 1-800-GERBER (1-800-443-7237), available 24/7.
What this means locally is straightforward: verify any Arrowroot Biscuits in your home now, remove or return recalled packages, and monitor official updates from retailers and health authorities for any new information.
