Goodwill Industries of Hawai‘i will hold a reuse collection event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at the Kaua‘i Resource Center, 3460 Ahukini Road in Līhuʻe. Residents, businesses and organizations may drop off clothing, small furniture, kitchen items, children’s toys, books and shoes for reuse — an effort intended to divert usable goods from landfill-bound waste and support Goodwill’s statewide programs.

Clothing and textiles do not need to be in good condition; torn or stained clothing is OK. Donors are asked to "Please double check your donations before bringing them in and be sure they are in BAGS or BOXES. Once you donate an item, the County cannot return them as there is a huge stockpile of items and some items have already been prepped for shipment off island." Goodwill requests the public remain in their vehicles while on-site because of health and safety concerns, heavy equipment in the area and to reduce the chance of injury to customers unloading heavy items.

Not all items are eligible. Organizers ask the public to refrain from bringing eWaste, chemicals, medical equipment, appliances, food items, baby items (other than clothing) or broken items. Thrift stores and businesses can schedule pickup service at 808-241-4838. Residents who need a home pickup may contact RP’s Random Closet at 808-346-0020; sources note RP’s Random Closet is a for-profit agency. For general recycling and reuse questions, Kaua‘i County’s Solid Waste Division can be reached at 808-241-4841 or via the county’s reuse webpage.

The event is a joint effort between Goodwill Hawaii and the County of Kaua‘i Reuse Program. Goodwill framed the expansion as part of a broader effort to support local communities and statewide services: "We are pleased to be able to support the County of Kauai with their efforts to maintain the beauty of their island and keep unnecessary waste out of their communities, and at the same time can help us provide critical services to underserved populations statewide including Kauai," said Katy Chen, Goodwill Hawaii president & CEO. Goodwill also noted it has had roots on Kauai for the past 20 years and that its programs have provided job training and support services since 1959.

Readers should note a scheduling discrepancy in public materials: the Kaua‘i County calendar lists reuse collection events on the second Friday of several months (including Feb. 13, Mar. 13, Apr. 10, May 8 and Jun. 12), while a Goodwill press release lists a different monthly series beginning April 25 and continuing through December. If you plan to attend or arrange a pickup, confirm times and future dates with Kaua‘i County or Goodwill before hauling items.

Beyond diverting goods, the push expands local job opportunities: Goodwill is seeking to fill 6–7 part-time donation/production worker positions to support expanded operations on Kaua‘i; interested applicants are asked to apply online through Goodwill Hawaii’s hiring portal. For now, the Feb. 13 collection offers a convenient, organized way for Kaua‘i residents to give useful items a second life while supporting programs that provide training and employment services locally.
