Gourmand Rotisserie, Coffee Bar Planned for North Asheville, Opening Later This Year
Gourmand says it will open a North Asheville spot on Broadway Street between Montford and Five Poins, serving rotisserie chicken, wine and a coffee bar later this year.

Owners Peyton Barrell and Katie Grabach announced that Gourmand Rotisserie will relocate to North Asheville, posting that "Gourmand is coming to North Asheville later this year" and naming a Broadway Street site "between Montford and Five Poins." The GourmandAsheville post ties the new location to the Reed Creek Greenway and lists menu touchstones including chicken and wine, while also referencing plans for coffee and "big plates of fries."
The move follows a setback in the River Arts District, where Citizen-Times reported that Gourmand Rotisserie "was nearing opening day, set for November 2024" before its River Arts District building "was knocked off its foundation and submerged by floodwaters the September before, when the French Broad River rose to a historic 24.67 feet during Tropical Storm Helene." Citizen-Times framed the owners as "Down, but not out," reporting that Barrell and Grabach "have found a new home for their rotisserie and wine bar."
Gourmand's social posts describe the concept as French-inspired and emphasize rotisserie chicken, wine service and coffee offerings. The business wrote, "We’re excited to let you know that you’ll be able to celebrate next Valentine’s Day with delicious chicken, wine, and much more at the new Gourmand location," signaling event-oriented plans without publishing a calendar opening date. The Broadway Street post also included emojis and neighborhood-focused language: "we’ll be sharing lots of beverages and big plates of fries on the Reed Creek Greenway🏃♀️🏃🍷."
While the owners work on rebuilding efforts tied to their River Arts District loss, Gourmand is resuming catering and private-chef work. The business posted, "While we continue to work on rebuilding Gourmand we are excited to dip our toes back into the catering and private cheffing world! Please DM or email Peyton@GourmandAsheville.com with all inquiries, we look forward to cooking for you!" The post closed with a personal update on recovery: "Every trip we take down to Foundy we see improvement. While we still have a long way to go, so much progress has been made. We still have a thick unrelenting pool of bureaucracy, a full rebuild, and some months ahead. We do know one day we will host you in our tiny shack. We are looking forward to announcing some pop ups in the near future, we cannot wait to cook for y’all again! Wishing all of our friends, customers, and suppliers our best and thank you all for your support!! -K&P"
Gourmand’s North Asheville announcement arrives amid a busy stretch for local hospitality development. AVLtoday's "Coming Soon" roundup lists projects across Buncombe County, including Gemelli's new location expected "by spring 2026," a Scheffer Group counter service at 319 Merrimon Ave. slated for 2026 expansion, and openings such as Mountain Madre at 791 Merrimon Ave. Ashevegas Hot Sheet also notes lodging growth north of the city with "AutoCamp Asheville" on a 16-acre site along the French Broad River scheduled to welcome visitors later this year.
For now, Gourmand has provided neighborhood directions but no street number; the Broadway Street description in the business post is the most specific public location detail available, and the owners continue to invite catering inquiries at Peyton@GourmandAsheville.com as they pursue rebuilding and pop-up events.
