Helena Police Respond to 68 Calls March 1; Multiple Thefts, Drug Arrest
Helena police responded to 68 calls on Sunday, March 1, including four business thefts, a suspicious letter near 8th Avenue, and a search-warrant arrest that produced two drug-related charges.

Helena Police Department officers handled 68 calls for service on Sunday, March 1, 2026, a shift that included four reported business thefts, a vehicle trespass, a suspicious letter and a search-warrant arrest that led to two drug-related bookings. The day's incidents touched neighborhoods from downtown blocks of 8th Avenue to west-side corridors such as Prospect and Euclid avenues.
The department's log shows a 2:14 a.m. domestic disturbance near the 100 block of Oakes St., followed by a 9:58 a.m. report of a theft from a business near the 1200 block of Prospect Ave. A theft was reported at 1:20 p.m. near the 700 block of Harrison Ave., and a suspicious letter was received at 2:46 p.m. near the 200 block of 8th Ave. HPD logged a family disturbance at 4:34 p.m. near the 10 block of S Ewing St., and three separate business-theft reports later in the afternoon and evening near the 1300 block of Euclid Ave., the 1600 block of 11th Ave., and the 1200 block of Prospect Ave.
A search warrant executed at a residence near the 1200 block of Grant St. at 4:55 p.m. produced two arrests. A 23-year-old female was arrested on a charge described as "Possession of Dangerous Drugs with Intent to Distribute." A 22-year-old male was arrested for "Possession of Dangerous Drugs and a Parole Violation." The female's charge was described in the log with wording that indicates a felony-level offense.
In addition to the thefts and arrests, HPD's aggregated March 1 counts list one domestic disturbance, two noise disturbances, six suspicious circumstances/persons/vehicles, four thefts, seven traffic stops, four trespassing calls, eight welfare checks and one wildlife/animals call. A trespass to a vehicle was reported at 9:40 p.m. near the 800 block of Madison Ave.
As context for ongoing theft concerns in Helena, a separate west-side theft alert from December 2025 covered incidents between 10:00 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2025 and 5:00 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2025 and was assigned case number HP255599 under Detective Corporal Kent Anderson. That alert urged residents to "check video surveillance for any suspicious activity" and to "lock vehicles, remove valuables from cars, and secure property to help prevent future thefts." There is no indication in the March 1 log that those December incidents are linked to the March 1 reports.
Residents with video footage or information related to thefts or other crimes are asked to contact the Helena/Lewis and Clark County Dispatch Center at 406-442-3233. The March 1 log shows the two Grant Street arrests as the only bookings tied to that day's search-warrant action; HPD investigations into the incidents remain active.
