Hypebeast Twenty T-Shirt Exhibition Celebrates 20th Anniversary in Hong Kong
Hypebeast marked its 20th anniversary with a curated show of 20 collaborative T-shirts at BELOWGROUND in Landmark, Central, Hong Kong, running from February 8 through February 22.

Hypebeast returned to its origin city with a compact, deliberate exhibition that treated the T-shirt as a cultural artifact. The HYPEBEAST TWENTY T-shirt Exhibition opened February 8 and ran until February 22 at BELOWGROUND in Landmark, 15 Queen’s Road Central, Central, Hong Kong. Hypebeast frames the show as one that “centers on the T-shirt as the ultimate democratic medium for self-expression and a vital canvas for pop culture history.”
The display assembled a lineup of 20 collaborative and commemorative tees from names that map two decades of streetwear influence. The roster included ACRONYM, AMBUSH, Anti Social Social Club, BAPE, Brain Dead, fragment, Futura Laboratories, Hajime Sorayama, HUF, KAWS x HUMAN MADE, NEIGHBORHOOD, PATTA, PEACEMINUSONE, POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF), Proleta Re Art, Supreme, UNDERCOVER, Takashi Murakami, Virgil Abloh Archive, and VERDY. Instagram copy for the BELOWGROUND tag underlined the anniversary intent: “To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Hypebeast has returned to its roots in Hong Kong with a curated T‑shirt exhibition at @belowground.hk.”
The physical staging was as considered as the lineup. Hypebeast noted that the “entire collection [was] on display right by the newly-opened Hypebeans and Gallery HBX,” and the space incorporated a localized installation by Orange Terry. “To elevate the experience, the space also features a specialized spatial dialogue created by local artist Orange Terry, blending contemporary art with streetwear heritage,” Hypebeast wrote, a nod to the show’s gallery sensibility. Visual coverage accompanying the exhibition was credited to Heison Ho/Hypebeast.
Commerce and curation were braided tightly: Hypebeast reported that “limited quantities of the collection are available for purchase directly at Gallery HBX, or online via HBX.” Gallery HBX, described as newly opened and adjacent to the exhibition at BELOWGROUND, served as the retail node for the commemorative pieces during the run that closed on February 22.

Critical voices placed the show in larger context. Apexfashionlab called it “a meticulously curated retrospective of two decades of profound cultural and fashion influence” and argued that “This isn't merely an exhibition of garments; it is a profound historical document, a testament to the power of graphic design, collaboration, and community…” Apexfashionlab further wrote that “By elevating the T‑shirt to an object of art and historical significance, the exhibition challenges traditional hierarchies, celebrating the democratic power of design and the enduring allure of cultural authenticity.”
For collectors and casual passersby alike, Hypebeast’s Hong Kong installation concentrated 20 years of collaborations into a single, addressable moment at BELOWGROUND, Landmark, 15 Queen’s Road Central. The show closed on February 22 after a two‑week presentation that placed the humble T-shirt center stage as both commodity and cultural ledger.
