ImOn Announces $66 Million 100% Fiber, Multi-Gig Speeds for Duluth-Superior
ImOn will invest $66 million to build 100% fiber to about 65,000 addresses in Duluth and Superior, promising up to 5 Gbps for homes and 10 Gbps for businesses starting spring 2026.

ImOn Communications announced Feb. 25, 2026 that it will invest roughly $66 million to deploy a 100% fiber-to-the-premises network across the Twin Ports, targeting about 50,000 addresses in Duluth and 15,000 in Superior and promising residential speeds up to 5 gigabits per second and business speeds up to 10 Gbps. Construction is slated to begin in spring 2026, weather permitting, and work will continue throughout 2026.
Patrice Carroll, ImOn president and CEO, framed the build as a response to capacity needs, saying, "For too long, the Great Lakes region has been served by outdated Internet technology that can't meet the demands of modern households and businesses. ImOn's 100% fiber Internet network will deliver the speed, capacity, and reliability the Superior and Duluth communities need to stay connected, not only in today's world, but for years to come."
ImOn plans to offer fiber-based phone service in addition to multi-gig internet tiers, and the company says service will be supported by a dedicated local team based in the Great Lakes region. Company materials and local reporting list example residential prices that will vary by speed, such as $58.50 per month for 500 megabits per second and $88.50 per month for 2 Gbps; ImOn has said pricing will vary based on selected tiers.
Paige Ochoa, ImOn marketing communications strategist, provided the local investment and coverage split and described deployment methods, noting the company plans about $50 million of the investment in Duluth and $16 million in Superior. Ochoa said the new fiber network will combine aerial and underground cable depending on terrain, with the majority of Superior's network to be underground and Duluth's build more mixed. She also said ImOn will notify residents when work begins in their neighborhoods.

The Twin Ports expansion is ImOn's eighth metro area and its first in Minnesota and Wisconsin; the Cedar Rapids-based company was founded in 2007 and previously served seven metros in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. ImOn pointed to recent experience in Southeast Iowa, where it completed a roughly $38.6 million build that connected nearly 30,000 homes and businesses between March and December 2025 and followed an acquisition of long-running Danville Telecom to establish a local support hub.
Construction coordination has included planning with city officials, and ImOn says crews will communicate directly with households as crews arrive in specific areas. Company announcements claim the project will bring "multi-gig Internet speeds to the Great Lakes region for the first time," a positioning the company is using to emphasize carrier diversity and higher-capacity service for businesses, healthcare, education and critical facilities across Duluth and Superior.
Work is expected to proceed through 2026, with the company urging patience during weather-dependent mobilization in spring; ImOn has said local outreach and scheduling details will be provided as neighborhoods are scheduled for build.
