Jacksonville Woman Arrested for Valentine’s Day Fatal Shooting of Marcquila Harris

Jacksonville police arrested 23-year-old Marissa Teubner on Feb. 15 and charged her with first-degree homicide and aggravated discharge of a firearm in the Valentine’s Day shooting that left 31-year-old Marcquila Harris dead. Teubner was taken to the Morgan County Jail and remained jailed pending the filing of formal charges and a court appearance.

Officers responded to a shots-fired call around 5:42 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of West Chambers Avenue, just east of Illinois College, where first responders found Marcquila Harris. Harris was transported from the scene to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced deceased by Morgan County Coroner Marcy Patterson; an autopsy was scheduled for Feb. 16.

Jacksonville Police Department investigators identified Teubner as a suspect and carried out the arrest the following day. Assistance in the investigation and arrest included the Morgan County State’s Attorney’s Office, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and the Morgan County Coroner’s Office.
