Jay County 72, St. Henry 63: Comer's 32 Sparks 13th Straight Win
Jay County beat St. Henry 72-63 as Jayden Comer scored a career-high 32, lifting the Patriots to their 13th straight win and improving to 14-2.

Jayden Comer erupted from long range and Jay County held off a furious St. Henry rally in a 72-63 victory at Jay County High School, a win that pushed the Patriots' streak to 13 games and moved their record to 14-2.
Comer finished with a career-high 32 points, drilling seven 3-pointers across the second and third quarters and even heaving one from just inside mid-court at the halftime buzzer. The local paper captured the night with the line that Comer “went ‘nuclear’ from long distance,” a fitting description for a shooting display that forced St. Henry to chase the score in the fourth quarter.
Jay County frontcourt work anchored the effort. Senior Gradin Swoveland produced 21 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, and he opened the third quarter with a personal seven-point run that helped blunt St. Henry’s momentum. Cole Forthofer complemented Swoveland with 11 points and 10 rebounds, forming a sturdy one-two punch inside that created space for Comer’s perimeter barrage.

St. Henry refused to fold. The visitors mounted a 14-1 run in the fourth quarter to slice the lead to 67-61 with roughly two minutes remaining, turning the finish into a tense sequence. Jay County answered by scoring the next five points to close out the game and secure the final margin.
The win capped an impressive stretch for Jay County, which had moved to a 12-game streak after an 81-38 victory over Southern Wells earlier in the month. MaxPreps lists Jay County's record at 14-2 following the St. Henry game, underscoring how the Patriots have combined hot shooting and interior presence to pile up wins.
Photographer Ray Cooney’s game images highlighted Comer’s deep heave at the halftime horn and Swoveland’s second-half drives, emblematic moments on a night summed up in one terse line from local coverage: "It was good again."

Beyond the box score, Comer’s shooting binge changes how opponents will game-plan for Jay County. Teams will have to respect the deep ball and decide whether to extend coverage and risk Swoveland and Forthofer rolling inside, or pack the paint and dare Comer to hit contested triples. For Jay County fans, the result is immediate gratification and a storyline to follow as the Patriots head toward the stretch run.
In youth program follow-up, Jay County’s junior high squads also posted mixed results earlier in the season, with the 8th grade beating St. Henry Middle School 50-26 and remaining unbeaten at 15-0, while the 7th grade fell 28-42 and sits 8-7. The varsity’s current run gives the whole program momentum and raises stakes for upcoming matchups as postseason positioning nears.
