Jaylen Brown reacts on Twitch after blockbuster Celtics-76ers trade

Jaylen Brown went live on Twitch and said Boston had “packed me up” after the Celtics agreed to send him to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Brown said he was still processing the move and described his feelings as a mix of “excitement” and “disappointment” as the deal unfolded in public.

Before the stream, Brown said he was “still processing how this all went down” and that he had earned his respect from Boston. On Twitch, he added that there was “definitely a message being sent” and that he was “not thrilled with the amount of respect that was being shown during this process.”

Boston’s return included Paul George plus draft capital in first-round picks in 2028 and 2031 and second-round selections in 2028 and 2030. Brown never requested a trade, a detail that sharpened the sting of the move for a player who had become one of the franchise’s defining figures. Brown is the fifth player to be traded within three seasons of winning NBA Finals MVP, and he left Boston after a career year of 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.

The transaction also stripped away the Brown-Jayson Tatum pairing that helped deliver Boston’s 18th championship. Brown entered the summer as a five-time All-Star, the 2024 Eastern Conference finals MVP and the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, and he was approaching his 30th birthday in October. Brown is owed a little over $180 million over the next three seasons and is eligible for a two-year extension worth more than $140 million.
