Eugene Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children teams arrested 25-year-old Kaleb John Francis Altman of Gold Hill in late February after a multiagency undercover investigation, then transported him to Eugene where he was lodged at the Lane County Jail. Authorities charged Altman with Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the Second Degree.

According to local reporting, the alleged online contact began in September 2025 when Altman communicated with what he believed was a juvenile female who was actually an undercover EPD detective. Eugene‑or reported Altman “had sent the ‘teen’ explicit links to adult pornography sites, as well as videos and photos of his erect genitals and sex acts,” attributing those descriptions to the investigation.

The arrest was carried out in Medford during coordinated activity on Feb. 25, when a Violent Crimes detective from Eugene drove to Medford and met with Jackson County Sheriff’s Office detectives as part of the operation. MedfordAlert described a coordinated team that included the Eugene Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Medford Police Department, and said Altman was arrested “without incident as he arrived at his workplace in Medford, authorities said.”

MedfordAlert and KEZI reported detectives transported Altman back to Eugene; a social media post shared in reporting noted he was transported by the EPD detective to Eugene and lodged at Lane County Jail. Sources emphasized the arrest followed an undercover sting and did not report any on-scene resistance.

The charges against Altman were filed based on the alleged online communications and the explicit material investigators say he sent. Media accounts list the formal counts as Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the Second Degree; no platform names, meeting plans, court dates or bail details were provided in initial reports.

MedfordAlert quoted detectives as saying they will “continue to work with aggressively investigate online predators and hold them accountable for their actions.” KEZI reported the Eugene Police Department added, “The Eugene Police Department continues to work diligently to hold online predators accountable, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and vigilance. Parents are encouraged to monitor their children's online activities and educate them about the dangers of internet interactions.”

The operation was described as part of the broader Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force effort. Eugene‑or noted the ICAC program is a national network representing more than 5,400 federal, state and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies, operating since 1998 to help catch distributors of child pornography and sexual predators who solicit victims online.

Altman remains lodged at the Lane County Jail on the listed charges as investigators from Eugene, Jackson County and partner agencies continue follow-up work tied to the undercover investigation.
