Legacy Power Sports relocates to 5-acre Island City site
Legacy Power Sports & RV moved to 11201 Island Ave in Island City, doubling its lot and expanding RV and powersports inventory — a boost for local buyers and regional traffic.

Legacy Power Sports & RV has moved its operations to 11201 Island Ave in Island City after owner Robert Bates purchased the 5-acre property from The Other Guys Auto Sales. The deal, which followed months of negotiation and took effect in December, gives the dealer about double the space it occupied at 10401 S. Walton Road and immediately expands its visible footprint on Island Avenue.
The larger lot allows Legacy to showcase roughly 70 RVs on site, including models from Northwood Manufacturing and Keystone RV, alongside used Class A, B and C motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers and campers. The dealer’s power sports inventory now lists Suzuki motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, specialized mountain bikes and Landmaster all-electric side-by-sides, plus newly added CF Moto vehicles as part of a recent dealer acquisition. The main service shop on the property is about 4,800 square feet.
“There are multiple buildings on the property, including a detail shop we acquired with the sale,” General Manager Shane Smith said. “Mark Kokubun, who had been doing details for The Other Guys, is staying with us and will continue to do details out in the back shop.” Smith also noted recent security investments. “We recently put a new four-foot chain-link fence across the front and installed a security gate,” Smith said.
Legacy’s growth has been rapid over the past five years. The company purchased AC Power Sports in 2020 and acquired Thunder RV in late 2022, expansions Smith says helped consolidate operations into the current Legacy Power Sports & RV brand. “In 2020, Legacy Power Sports & RV purchased AC Power Sports, and then in late 2022, Legacy acquired Thunder RV, which turned us into Legacy Power Sports & RV,” Smith said. “We were leasing the Walton Road property until we could find another location, and now we’ve landed at our final destination.”

For Union County residents, the move means increased local inventory and easier access to a broader range of recreational vehicles and services. A larger lot and higher visibility on Island Avenue make walk-in traffic more likely, which can translate to faster inventory turnover and more competitive pricing. The presence of an on-site detail shop and expanded service space also supports after-sales maintenance and could keep more service dollars circulating locally.
Legacy plans to add a covered outdoor showroom and expand the main shop, which would further raise the site’s capacity for display and repairs. A spring grand opening will be announced on Legacy’s website and Facebook page. The business is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call the business office at 541-663-1111.
The takeaway? If you’ve been shopping for an RV or new powersports rig, Island Avenue just got a lot more options — call ahead or check Legacy’s online listings before you go to see what’s on the lot and whether financing or demo opportunities match your needs.
