Los Alamos Arts Council Unveils March Programs Including Kite Festival, Classes, Meetups
Los Alamos Arts Council at Fuller Lodge announced a March lineup with a volunteer get‑together March 13 and preparations underway for the 30th Annual Kite Festival April 25–26.

The Los Alamos Arts Council at Fuller Lodge Art Center outlined a busy March schedule that pairs a volunteer get‑together March 13 with prep work for the 30th Annual Kite Festival set for April 25–26. The council said afterschool art is “thriving” and indicated the Fuller Lodge gallery will soon have expanded weekend hours as it programs community arts events from its downtown headquarters at 2132 Central Ave.
The council is recruiting volunteers with a Friday, March 13 Volunteer Drop‑In at Fuller Lodge. Drop‑in hours are 10:00 AM–12:00 PM at 2132 Central Ave, and organizers said, “To prepare for our year of cultural programming, we invite our community to our first volunteer get together!” Tea and snacks will be provided and organizers ask interested residents to email Info@LAAC-FLAC.org for more information. The LAAC materials add, “Learn about how you can help sustain arts and culture programming in your community even beyond helping with Kite Festival and Pumpkin Glow.”
On March 12 LAAC will partner with the Pajarito Environmental Education Center for a Climate Café at PEEC. The council described the session this way: “Join the Arts Council for a collaboration with the Pajarito Environmental Education Center. Gather with us to explore climate emotions together.” Registration and event details are available through PEEC’s events page.
Casual community meetups include Crafts & Drafts at Bathtub Row Brewing Co‑Op on March 15. The LAAC calendar says the meetup will provide fiber art supplies for attendees who don’t have their own: “We will bring fiber art supplies for those who don’t have their own but want to hang out!” The event is free, with the council noting, “Free (although donations for supplies appreciated).” Attendees are asked to avoid paints, glues, or “messy crafts” to respect venue rules: “Please no paints, glues, or messy crafts, our goal is to hang out, spend some time together on our hobbies, and not leave a big mess for the Tub crew.”
Adult improv sessions continue through March 25 at Fuller Lodge. Santa Fe Improv and Los Alamos Little Theatre present weekly drop‑in classes on Wednesdays, February 4–March 25, from 6:30 PM–8:30 PM with instructor Nick Hubley. The LAAC calendar notes the sessions are presented by Santa Fe Improv and LALT and explicitly “is not affiliated with the Los Alamos Arts Council.” The listing adds that “Everyone is welcome to these all-level drop-in sessions! No prior improv experience necessary. Adults only,” and cautions that “According to their website, the presenters are unable to provide refunds for drop-in classes.”
The Los Alamos Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that programs the Fuller Lodge Art Center, operates a gallery and gift shop, and runs education programs including a summer camp. With the Kite Festival drawing closer for April 25–26 and annual events such as arts & crafts fairs and Pumpkin Glow on the calendar, LAAC is asking for volunteer support and directing people to its events page for the full March schedule and to Info@LAAC-FLAC.org for volunteer inquiries.
