McKinney Historic Half Presented by BMW Debuts March 28, 2026, Registration Open
The inaugural McKinney Historic Half Presented by BMW will run through McKinney’s historic downtown on March 28, with proceeds benefiting Scottish Rite for Children of Frisco and 16-year-old Zion serving as Junior Race Director.

The McKinney Historic Half Presented by BMW will debut on Saturday, March 28, sending runners through McKinney’s historic downtown, tree-lined neighborhoods and park system while raising funds for Scottish Rite for Children of Frisco. Organizers say the event, open to runners across Collin, Dallas and Rockwall counties, will include a half marathon, a 5K and a Kid’s 100-Meter Dash with the children’s race staged at McKinney City Hall.
The race is organized by the team behind the BMW Dallas Marathon and is led in public remarks by Jason Schuchard, President of the Dallas White Rock Marathon. “Bringing a new race to McKinney is an exciting milestone for our organization,” said Jason Schuchard. “This community has a spirit and character that make it an exceptional host city, and we cant wait for runners to experience it firsthand. Race day will showcase everything that makes McKinney special.” The McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the launch, and TUPPS Brewery will serve as the on-the-ground host and the post-race celebration venue, with BMW serving as presenting sponsor.
Race-day schedule on the event site lists a 7:00 AM start for the Half Marathon, a 7:15 AM start for the 5K, and a 10:00 AM Kid’s 100-Meter Dash at McKinney City Hall. Organizers have published a graphical course map and state they reserve the right to change the course as needed before race day; the event page also points participants to a rules and time limits section for each distance.
Technical requirements are explicit: half marathon entrants must be at least 16 years old, and, in accordance with USA Track & Field and Wheelchair Sports USA guidelines, only runners, walkers and wheelchair participants will be permitted on the course. The event menu also lists awards, pricing and hotels, though specific time-limit numbers and pricing tiers appear on the race’s official materials rather than in promotional copy.
Participant benefits include a tri-blend short sleeve participant shirt, a personalized race bib for those registered by February 28, a finisher medallion and a long-sleeve performance finisher shirt for half marathon finishers. Medal personalization via an iTAB Ribbon Hanger is available for an additional $15. Admission to the post-race party at TUPPS Brewery is included for participants and will feature live music, local vendors, food and complimentary beer for those 21 and older.

The charitable component is central to the event: proceeds will benefit Scottish Rite for Children of Frisco, which operates campuses in Dallas and Frisco and provides pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine care regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Scottish Rite serves thousands of young patients each year, and the Dallas White Rock/BMW Dallas Marathon team has a long history of support, having donated nearly $5 million to Scottish Rite for Children since 1997.
A human face to that mission is Zion, a 16-year-old from Frisco named the race’s first Junior Race Director, a symbolic role tied to his recovery and comeback. “It was a joy taking care of Zion. His motivation and effort throughout recovery inspired our entire surgical and therapy team,” said Dr. Philip L. Wilson, Zion’s pediatric orthopedic surgeon.
Registration is now open on the McKinney Historic Half website, and organizers urge prospective participants to review the official race rules, timing limits and course map ahead of March 28. The event aims to blend competitive racing with a family-friendly festival atmosphere while channeling local economic activity into charitable support for pediatric care.
