Mill City Roasters Debuts M-Series Roasters with Monolithic Chassis, Solar-Powered In-House Manufacturing
Mill City’s M‑Series launches from a solar‑powered, 40,000 sq ft Minneapolis facility that fabricates more than 400 unique parts per roaster and uses a laser‑welded, “thermal battery” chassis.

Mill City Roasters unveiled the M‑Series roasters as a product tied directly to its new in‑house manufacturing ecosystem in Northeast Minneapolis, a solar‑powered 40,000 square foot facility the company says it has developed for more than five years. The line includes 6‑kg, 10‑kg and 20‑kg base models and is built around a laser‑welded plate‑steel, monolithic chassis Mill City describes as acting like a “thermal battery” to stabilize roast heat.
Pre‑order pricing listed for buyers in the U.S. and Canada places the 6‑kg base M‑Series at $34,800, the 10‑kg at $42,800 and the 20‑kg at $64,800. Mill City has stated that fabrication of additional 3‑kg and 30‑kg M‑Series sizes is expected to begin "by the end of this summer." The company plans to exhibit the M‑Series at World of Coffee San Diego, April 10–12, 2026.
Steve Green, Mill City’s CEO and author of the company blog introduction on January 27, 2026, framed the M‑Series as the product of the business’s combined expertise in coffee and fabrication. He said, "If your coffee is a labor of love, your roaster should reflect an equivalent commitment to excellence." Green added, "The M‑Series stands as the most refined, highest‑performing roasting system we can build. It is the realization of our dual expertise in specialty coffee and precision manufacturing."
The company emphasizes deep vertical integration: Mill City states every one of the more than 400 unique components required for an M‑Series roaster is fabricated inside the Minneapolis shop using in‑house laser cutting, forming, welding and CNC machining. Sprudge and company materials describe significant investment in heavy machinery, specialized tooling and a craft‑focused fabrication team to support that work. Angie Davis, vice president at Mill City Roasters, said, "Having our own production facility 40 steps away from our designers and engineers makes everything seem possible," and she added, "This type of in‑house capability is going to lead to product lines and problem solving we haven’t even considered. It’s an exciting time at Mill City Roasters."

Beyond mechanical design, Mill City highlights software and service features intended to extend machine life and responsiveness. Product pages state M‑Series roasters support remote firmware upgradable feature sets and include a comprehensive remote diagnostics suite for proactive maintenance scheduling and external troubleshooting. The company presents the machines as engineered "for a lifetime of rigorous commercial production" and advertises promotional terms including "0% Equipment Financing Available," a "Free RoastPATH® Workshop" and a contact phone number, 612‑886‑2089.
Steve Green posted the company announcement January 27, 2026; Mill City rolled the product into public view in mid‑February and will bring the M‑Series to World of Coffee San Diego in April. Questions about lead times, warranty terms and the exact timing for 3‑kg and 30‑kg fabrication remain to be confirmed with Mill City.
