John Ray Herron Sr., 79, of Millersburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 4, 2026; visitation is set for March 9 and funeral for March 10 in Uhrichsville.

John Ray Herron Sr., 79, a Millersburg resident and lifelong Holmes County local, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Herron was born June 8, 1946, in Dennison, Ohio, and died at age 79.
Family and friends may visit the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home in Uhrichsville on Monday, March 9, 2026: "Family and friends may call on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home." Pastor Brett Warkentine will lead the funeral service on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1 p.m., at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville. Herron graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1964. He worked for years in local industry and transportation, employed as a supervisor for Alsco, driving truck, and later working at GE Electric, according to the funeral-home obituary. Those positions anchored much of his adult life in the surrounding communities of Holmes and Tuscarawas counties.
Herron married Perla Tagum Herron on January 13, 2017; Perla survives at the home. He is survived by his children, John Herron, Kayla Herron of Uhrichsville, Rebecca Toland and her husband Steve of Dennison, and Kim Herron of Dover. His siblings include Kay Ann White of New Philadelphia, Cathy Edwards and her husband John of Uhrichsville, and Ralph Herron of Virginia. His grandchildren are named as Johnny, Gregory, Jeremy, Caden, Keaton, McKenzie and Connor, and he is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
