One dead after motorcycle crash on Cohens Bluff Road in Allendale County
A motorcyclist was ejected and pronounced dead after the bike left Cohens Bluff Road and overturned, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

A motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after their bike left Cohens Bluff Road, overturned and the rider was ejected, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said. "The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene, and troopers say the incident is still under investigation," state troopers reported, and Master Trooper Matthew Jones said the operator "drove off of the roadway going north on Cohens Bluff Landing Road. They ejected from the bike and died at the scene."
South Carolina Highway Patrol investigators told officers the motorcycle had been traveling north when it veered right, went off the road, overturned, and the rider was thrown from the machine. Troopers responding to the scene worked to secure Cohens Bluff Road - reported in some accounts as Cohens Bluff Landing Road - as they examined the scene and gathered evidence to determine what led to the crash.
Law enforcement sources in Allendale County confirmed there was a single fatality at the scene. One local outlet noted that officers had identified the person killed, but the available reporting did not include a name or age, and the Highway Patrol continues to withhold further personal details pending family notification and completion of the investigation.
Investigators from the South Carolina Highway Patrol remain on the case and are conducting a formal inquiry into the crash dynamics and contributing factors. Troopers said they will analyze scene evidence, vehicle damage and gather witness statements as part of the ongoing probe into the circumstances that caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.

This Allendale County fatality is distinct from a separate, unrelated crash in western Michigan. In Gaines Township, Kent County, a collision on Kalamazoo Avenue SE just north of 100th Street involved a motorcycle and a minivan; deputies with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said their Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate that incident, which local reports identified as involving a 26-year-old man from Allendale, Michigan, and occurring around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 13.
South Carolina Highway Patrol officials have not released the name of the Allendale County victim or a specific calendar date for the crash in their public statements. Troopers ask anyone with dash-cam or witness information about the Cohens Bluff Road collision to contact the Highway Patrol through the Allendale County detachment as the investigation proceeds.
