Oxford Man, 19, Charged With Attempted Rape, Kidnapping Downtown
A 19-year-old Oxford man is charged with attempted rape and kidnapping after police say he offered a woman a ride on University Avenue, then drove her to another location.

Keilun Treveon Lewis, 19, of Oxford was arrested and charged with attempt to commit an offense (rape) and kidnapping after investigators say he picked up a woman walking home along University Avenue on the night of Feb. 26 and drove her to an undisclosed location where he held her against her will and attempted to sexually assault her.
Oxford Police Department received a walk-in report about the incident on March 5, more than a week after the alleged assault occurred. According to police, the victim had been in the downtown area before leaving on foot toward her residence when Lewis, driving a vehicle, approached her and offered a ride home. She accepted. Once she was inside the vehicle, police say Lewis took her to another location, where he allegedly held her against her will and attempted to sexually assault her.
Through investigative leads developed by both the victim and investigators, police identified Lewis as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and charged. A Municipal Court judge set bond following his arrest, though the bond amount has not been publicly disclosed.

Lewis faces formal charges of attempting to commit an offense (rape) and kidnapping. The Oxford Police Department confirmed the arrest was reported publicly on March 9.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information about the incident, or who may have experienced a similar incident, is asked to contact the Oxford Police Department at 662-232-2400.
