Perry County Grows Holds Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting in Cannelton
Perry County Grows opened its new community market in Cannelton with a ribbon-cutting, bringing local food, makers and wellness vendors downtown.

Perry County Grows held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting at its new downtown Cannelton location, drawing community members to a marketplace for local food, makers and wellness vendors. The Perry County Chamber of Commerce hosted the ceremony at 11 a.m., and the venue welcomed shoppers during grand-opening hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.
The ribbon-cutting marked the formal opening of the space at 218 S. 7th Street, described by organizers as across from Cannelton City Hall. "The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for Perry County Grows on Saturday, February 7 at 11 a.m., to celebrate the grand opening of the new community marketplace located at 218 S. Seventh Street in Cannelton." An Instagram announcement for the event read: "PERRY COUNTY GROWS GRAND OPENING February 7, 2026 8-5CST 8-5 CST Ribbon Cutting at 11 A 218s7hSt,Cannelton 218S7tS 218 S 7th St, Cannelton."
Perry County Grows bills itself as a single location that aggregates producers and makers. "Perry County Grows serves as a local hub that brings together local food producers, farmers, and makers under one roof." Vendors featured for the opening included Kelly’s Cookery, Taylor Made, The Herbal Cup, Mama Zz Cottage, and For the Honor of the Light Energy Healing LLC, offering what the local press described as "a variety of prepared foods, baked goods, beverages, candles, soaps, lotions, and other locally made products." Shoppers at the grand opening also found "locally sourced honey, farm-fresh eggs, meat, sweet potatoes, and more." In addition to regular vendors, Middle Fork Farms and Bottom of the Barrel participated in the launch.
The Chamber’s visible role aligns with county economic-development efforts to boost small-business exposure and downtown foot traffic. PickPerry frames that local strategy broadly: "Pick Perry is a vibrant collaboration dedicated to the growth and development of Perry County. The initiative brings together the expertise and resources of the Perry County Development Corporation, the Perry County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Perry County Chamber of Commerce." A centralized marketplace can lower marketing costs for individual sellers while concentrating demand in a walkable part of town.

Perry County Grows arrives amid a broader tide of community markets across the county and region. At a separate local market effort, West Perry Farmers Market co-founder Lindsay Hutchinson said, "We wanted to create a consistent, accessible space to gather and support local farmers," adding, "I feel really lucky, that in Perry County, people understand what it means to support our farmers and eat locally." Those local-market dynamics suggest both cultural backing and a steady customer base for producers who can scale into shared retail space.
For Perry County residents, the opening means new options for directly sourcing groceries and handmade goods close to City Hall, plus more reasons to visit downtown Cannelton. Expect to see rotating vendor tables and wellness offerings in the weeks ahead as the market settles into a regular rhythm and organizers confirm ongoing hours and vendor schedules.
