PGCC Hosts Region 20 Tournament; Owls Livestream Home Games
PGCC hosted the NJCAA Region 20 DIII men’s tournament at Novak Field House Feb. 24–25; the #1-seeded Owls claimed the regional title and livestreamed home games Feb. 27 and March 3.

Prince George’s Community College hosted the NJCAA Region 20 Division III men’s basketball tournament at Novak Field House on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25, 2024, and PGCC’s athletics department posted a headline declaring “Prince George’s Dominant in Region 20 Tournament, Capture 10th Program Championship” after the event. The #1-seeded PGCC Owls served as hosts to three visiting Western Pennsylvania schools: Butler County Community College, Community College of Allegheny County, and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
Semi-final play on Saturday, February 24 opened with #1 Prince George’s facing #4 Penn Highlands at 12:00 p.m., followed by #2 CCAC vs. #3 Butler at 2:00 p.m., and the winners met in the championship game on Sunday, February 25 at 12:00 p.m. Justin Douds, Prince George’s vice president for Policy and General Counsel, sang the national anthem before the semi-final tip-off, and Jo Ann Rogers Todaro, PGCC athletics director, said, “We are very proud of our student-athletes. Their hard work and dedication have paid off this season and we can’t wait to support them at the upcoming tournament.”
PGCC made the tournament widely accessible: all games were live-streamed on PGCC’s YouTube channel under the handle PGCCOwls, with live stats available for each matchup, and tickets were sold in advance online or at the door via electronic payment only. Season and standings figures vary across contemporaneous materials. Patch reported the Owls as 19–7 overall and “currently undefeated in Region 20 divisional play,” and listed Prince George’s as #10 in the NJCAA Division III national rankings. PGCC’s own standings table lists Prince George’s with a Region 20 record of 11–6 and an overall record of 18–6. PGCC’s athletic feed also recalled a November 2023 meeting with Penn Highlands in which the Owls won 99–94.

Beyond the regional crown, the Region 20 winner earns the right to host the Mid-Atlantic Championship on Saturday, March 2 against the winner of Region 10 vs. Region 17, and the district champion receives an automatic bid to the 2024 Division III Men’s Basketball National Championship in Herkimer, New York, March 13–16. PGCC later posted a March 7 headline noting the men’s program received a #7 seed ahead of the national championship.
PGCC’s program also livestreamed other home contests that week; the Owls’ home games on February 27 and March 3 were available via PGCC’s livestreams, per PGCC schedules.
