Pleasant Garden residents can bring personal documents for shredding, unwanted or expired medications and non-perishable food to the Pleasant Garden Community Recycling Event on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Pleasant Garden Community Center, 5024 Alliance Church Rd. This event is free and open to all Guilford County residents, and organizers say the Medication Take-Back station will offer a safe way to dispose of prescriptions and over-the-counter medicine.

Guilford County Environmental Services is leading the event in partnership with the Town of Pleasant Garden and community partners. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office will staff the Medication Take-Back station, and the food drive is hosted by A Simple Gesture; donated canned and dry goods will be distributed to local food pantries in Guilford County. Event materials list the offerings as shredding - personal documents for shredding, medication take-back, a food drive, and acceptance of hard-to-recycle items.

Organizers stress limits on what the event will take. “No business waste is accepted at community recycling events, including tax business shredding and tires from tire hauling businesses,” the county notice states. The town page adds that “Household hazardous waste items such as batteries, fuels, and light bulbs will not be accepted at the event.” Residents with household hazardous waste should instead use the HHW Collection Center at 2750 Patterson St., Greensboro; hours there are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items that cannot be handled at Pleasant Garden can be taken to county facilities: tires, electronics and appliances go to the Guilford County Scrap Tire and White Goods Collection Facility at 2138 Bishop Road, Greensboro, open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; call (336) 641-9431 for details. The county advises drivers arriving at drop-off facilities to “please arrive at least 30 minutes before closing to allow for time to unload materials.”

County government headquarters are at 301 W. Market St., Greensboro; office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Pleasant Garden event is one of four community recycling events Guilford County Environmental Services runs each year, part of the county’s e-cycle2026 outreach. Residents planning to attend should arrive during the 8 a.m. to noon window on March 14, bring personal documents and non-perishable food items, and use the HHW center or the scrap tire/white goods facility for excluded materials. The March 14 event offers a concentrated chance to shred sensitive documents, remove expired medicines from home medicine cabinets and donate food to local pantries.
