Police release video seeking two women in Riverhead Polo Ralph Lauren shoplifting
Riverhead police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers released surveillance images Feb. 26 seeking two women who allegedly stole about $585 in children's clothing from the Polo Ralph Lauren store at 1770 West Main St.

Riverhead police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers have circulated surveillance images after two women allegedly shoplifted from the Polo Ralph Lauren Children’s Factory Store at 1770 West Main St., Riverhead. Authorities released the appeal on Feb. 26, 2026, as investigators seek public help identifying the women tied to an Oct. 21, 2025 theft.
Police say the theft occurred at about 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2025. "Police said the women stole clothing valued at approximately $585 from the Polo Ralph Lauren Children’s Factory Store, located at 1770 West Main St., on Oct. 21, 2025, at about 4:45 p.m.," the release states. Surveillance stills have been posted by Crime Stoppers to aid identification; officials have not released names or physical descriptions in the public appeal.
"Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Town Police Department are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate two women police say stole merchandise from a Riverhead store last year," the Crime Stoppers notice reads. Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the women to contact the Riverhead Police Department; the public release did not include a tip phone number in the materials provided with the circulation.
Riverhead police and Crime Stoppers characterized the materials as surveillance images. Some social media snippets associated with the case used the word "video," but the official appeal that accompanied the Feb. 26 release identifies surveillance images as the evidence shared with the public. No arrests, warrants, or formal charges have been disclosed in connection with the Oct. 21, 2025 incident.

The Polo Ralph Lauren Children’s Factory Store on West Main is a high-traffic retailer in downtown Riverhead; shoplifting incidents draw follow-up from both local police and county tip lines when retailers report losses. Investigators reported the loss at roughly $585 in clothing, an amount police say came from store inventory counts tied to the Oct. 21 incident.
Riverhead Police Department and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers continue to request tips from anyone who recognizes the women pictured in the released surveillance images. As of the Feb. 26 appeal, officials have not provided additional suspect information, phone numbers, or a case number; investigators say tips can help move the case toward identification and potential charges. Police and Crime Stoppers said they will update the public if and when more information, including arrests or charges, becomes available.
