Catrina P. Conard, 33, of Prattville was critically injured after being struck while crossing Alabama State Route 14 near the Autauga County Agricultural Center; the driver was identified as Scott E. Stauth.

Catrina P. Conard, 33, of Prattville, was critically injured Saturday after being struck while crossing Alabama State Route 14 near the Autauga County Agricultural Center at the 141 mile marker, troopers said. The collision happened on Feb. 28 and left Conard with life-threatening injuries that required transport to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment of critical injuries.
Troopers identified the vehicle as a 2020 Toyota Tundra pickup driven by 55-year-old Scott E. Stauth of Wellton, Arizona. Officials say the vehicle struck the pedestrian as she attempted to cross the roadway; Conard was taken from the scene to Baptist Medical Center South, the hospital named in the initial reports.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Capt. Jeremy J. Burkett said in a release, "At 7 a.m., Conard was struck by a 2020 Toyota Tundra driven by Scott E. Stauth, 55, of Wellton, Arizona." That statement appears in ALEA's initial account of the crash and identifies the driver, vehicle and victim by name and age.
Local television reports described the crash as happening "around 7 p.m. on Feb. 28" near the 141 mile marker, creating a discrepancy in published times. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the collision and have not released additional details about the circumstances of the strike, any citations or whether factors such as lighting, speed or impairment played a role.
The victim's transfer to Baptist Medical Center South highlights the role of Montgomery-area trauma resources for critically injured Autauga County residents; emergency transport to a regional hospital was required after the strike on the state highway. Troopers said the collision involved a single pickup truck striking a pedestrian at the specified mile marker near the Autauga County Agricultural Center.
ALEA troopers continue to investigate the crash at the 141 mile marker on Alabama State Route 14. No further details have been released about the investigation or Conard's prognosis; state troopers remain the point of contact for any official updates as they examine the scene, vehicle and available evidence.
