Selma Unified Hosts Hampton Inn Job Fair to Hire 30 Teachers
Selma Unified is holding a job fair at the Hampton Inn to hire 30 teachers after more than 50 educators took an early retirement incentive.

Selma Unified School District is holding a teacher job fair at the Hampton Inn in Selma Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as it seeks to hire 30 teachers for the 2026-27 school year across K–12 classrooms. The district listed the event on its News & Events calendar and posted details to Facebook and Instagram inviting candidates to “come shape the future.”
District officials say the hiring push follows an early retirement incentive that led to a wave of exits. Perkovich, Jenna Perkovich, the district’s Director of Communications, said the incentive resulted in more than 50 teachers retiring, creating the immediate need to replenish staff for next school year. The scale of the retirements has prompted the district to run targeted recruiting throughout Fresno County and the Central Valley.
Candidates who attend can meet principals from Selma Unified at the Hampton Inn for informal, meet-and-greet style interviews; formal interviews are scheduled to take place in the two weeks after the event. Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to apply on EDJOIN before the job fair to streamline on-site discussions, district notices state. The district emphasizes that both entry-level teachers and educators considering a move from another district are welcome.
Perkovich described the district’s recruitment focus in regional terms: “We are really looking to connect directly with candidates across the Central Valley, and that could be entry-level teachers. It could be teachers looking to move to another district.” She added the district’s search is driven by classroom impact and fit: “We are just really looking for candidates who are passionate about education who really want to make an impact in the classroom.”

Selma Unified also courts candidates on retention and growth opportunities inside the district. “What we find here in our district is that most teachers who come to Selma Unified stay in Selma Unified,” Perkovich said, while noting the district offers paths to teach across different grade levels and the possibility of positions inside the district office. Perkovich and district materials describe compensation as competitive, though no salary figures were published with the event announcement.
For local context, Selma Unified serves 6,035 TK–12 students across 12 schools, operates 17 Career Technical Pathways and reports a 95.6 percent graduation rate. Interested applicants can attend the Hampton Inn job fair from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and are advised to follow Jessica Harrington on Facebook, X and Instagram for news updates and potential on-site coverage.
