Several Injured in Crash at S. Fortuna and E. 24th Streets

A two-vehicle rear-end collision at the railroad crossing north of E. 24th Street and S. Fortuna Road around 2:30 p.m. Friday sent multiple people to area hospitals, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release referenced by KYMA. The vehicles involved were a 2025 Jeep Wagoneer and a Dodge Ram 2500, according to YCSO details reported by KYMA reporters Dillon Fuhrman and Madeline Murray.

YCSO’s account says the Jeep Wagoneer was stopped at the railroad crossing north of 24th Street when a Dodge Ram 2500 “approached stopped traffic, failed to stop and crashed into the rear of the Jeep.” The file name shown in the sheriff’s release is PR-2026-13-Serious-Injury-CollisionDownload, which YCSO provided to media outlets covering the collision.

Emergency responders from Rural Metro arrived on scene to aid those involved, and initial patient movements were to Onvida Health, YCSO reported via KYMA. The sheriff’s office said the driver and passengers of the Jeep were taken to Onvida Health for minor injuries, while the driver of the Dodge was also taken to Onvida Health and was later flown to a Phoenix-area hospital after suffering serious injuries.
