SFPD Arrests Siaosi Aleamotua in SoMa Sixth Street Fatal Shooting
Siaosi Aleamotua, 33, was arrested about eight hours after a man was fatally shot on the 100 block of Sixth Street in SoMa; he was booked on a murder charge, SFPD says.

Siaosi Aleamotua, 33, was taken into custody the morning after a fatal shooting on Sixth Street in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, the San Francisco Police Department said. Aleamotua was booked into San Francisco County Jail on a charge of murder (187(a) PC), SFPD listed SFPD CASE# 260-122-826.
Police said officers responded to the 100 block of Sixth Street at approximately 1:31 a.m. on March 4, 2026 after a report of a shooting. “Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds and rendered aid,” the department wrote; paramedics transported the man to a local hospital with life‑threatening injuries, and he was later declared deceased at the hospital. Officials have not released the victim’s name.
The SFPD Homicide Detail took over the investigation and developed probable cause to obtain an arrest and search warrant, the department said. Mission Local corroborated the early‑morning timeline and reported that the suspect was booked on what that outlet described as a first‑degree murder charge; the SFPD press release lists the charge as murder (187(a) PC).
Authorities said the Investigations Bureau and Tactical Unit located Aleamotua the same day on the 1200 block of Mission Street and arrested him at approximately 9:26 a.m. “With the Collaborative efforts of the SFPD Investigations Bureau and Tactical Unit, Aleamotua was located and taken into custody on the 1200 block of Mission Street on the same date at approximately 9:26 a.m.,” the department’s statement reads. The roughly 7 hour 55 minute gap between the initial response and the arrest was described by other outlets as about eight hours.
Not all accounts matched that timeline. SFist reported a separate police alert about activity near Sixth and Minna at roughly 4:05 p.m. and said officers arrested a suspect inside a building on the 200 block of Golden Gate Avenue after a non‑life‑threatening shooting; that afternoon timeline and arrest location conflict with the SFPD release placing the fatal early‑morning shooting on the 100 block of Sixth Street and the arrest on Mission Street.
The killing comes amid a rise in homicides this year in preliminary counts cited by outlets: through Feb. 15, 2026 police had investigated six homicides compared with one in the same period of 2025, and four of the six involved firearms, according to published data summaries. The SFPD has not released a motive, weapon description beyond “gunshot,” or details on whether the suspect and victim were known to each other.
“Although an arrest has been made, this is still an open and active investigation,” the department said, and asked anyone with information to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text-A-Tip to TIP411, beginning the message with SFPD. For non‑emergencies call 1-415-553-0123; in an emergency call 9-1-1 or use 3-1-1 for city services.
