Sheldon Freshman Elsie Mohr Named Active Chiropractic Athlete of the Week
Sheldon freshman Elsie Mohr scored a team-high 40 points Feb. 14, winning the 200 free in 2:00.8 and the 500 free in 5:29.82 to earn Active Chiropractic Athlete of the Week.

Sheldon swimmer Elsie Mohr is the winner of the Active Chiropractic high school girls Athlete of the Week, as voted by Register‑Guard readers. A freshman, Mohr received the honor after a standout showing at recent conference competition.
At the Southwest Conference championships Feb. 14, Mohr scored a team-high 40 points for Sheldon. She won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.8, took the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.82, and helped the Irish to a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Mohr earned 47.12% of the reader poll vote. Willamette swimmer Ella Hughes finished second with 32.32% of the vote; the Register‑Guard story did not publish raw vote totals.
Other nominees highlighted local performances from Feb. 14 across Lane County and area districts. Cottage Grove junior Avery Bengtson also scored a team-high 40 points to lead the Lions to the team title at the 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 2 championship. Bengtson won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.09, the 100 backstroke in 1:01.29, and swam legs on two relay teams.

Thurston senior Allison Cummings captured the Class 6A/5A Special District 4 title at 170 pounds at Springfield High School on Feb. 14, winning all three of her bouts and defeating North Eugene’s Juno Trudell by a 7-1 decision in the final. Teammate Kassidy Hadden, also a Thurston senior, won the Class 6A/5A Special District 4 title at 130 pounds at the same Springfield High School tournament.
The Athlete of the Week recognition follows a busy Feb. 14 of district and conference championships across the region, with multiple Lane County athletes posting district titles and high-point meets heading into the postseason portion of the season.
