Southeast District Boys Basketball Tournament Schedule and Scores Impact Vinton County Teams
Vinton County's season ended with a 46-39 quarterfinal loss to Gallia Academy, while area teams Oak Hill, Coal Grove and South Gallia posted notable district results ahead of semis at Ohio University and Southeastern High.

Vinton County, seeded ninth in Division IV, saw its postseason end after a 46-39 quarterfinal loss to eighth-seeded Gallia Academy on Monday, Feb. 23. Gallia Academy advanced to the Division IV semifinals that were scheduled at the Ohio University Convocation Center for Sunday, March 1 and were listed to pair Gallia Academy with top seed Circleville at 2 p.m.
The district picture around Vinton County shifted earlier in the week in Division V and opening-round play. Oak Hill, the 16 seed, beat 17-seed West Union 57-36 on Feb. 20 before falling in the Division V quarterfinals as (16) Oak Hill to (1) Chesapeake, 56-30. Coal Grove, seeded 15, defeated 18-seed Alexander 59-47 in the Feb. 20 opening round and then lost to (2) Ironton 62-24 in the Division V quarterfinals on Feb. 24. Those results leave Chesapeake, Ironton and other higher seeds moving into the semifinal slate at the Convocation Center.
Division III quarterfinal winners advanced to semifinal pairings at the Convocation Center with explicit times listed. Miami Trace, the 1 seed, beat Athens 64-42 and was scheduled to meet (4) Marietta at 6:15 p.m., while (3) Chillicothe, after a 54-44 win over Sheridan, was set to meet (2) Jackson at 8 p.m. on the Division III semifinal docket.
Division V completed a full set of quarterfinal scores on Feb. 24 that shape the March 2-3 semifinal schedule. Quarterfinal results show (8) Wellston 64 over (9) Northwest 44, (4) Eastern Brown 62 over (13) Nelsonville-York 38, (5) Zane Trace 47 over (12) Lynchburg-Clay 37, (7) Portsmouth 58 over (10) Piketon 47, (3) Wheelersburg 60 over (14) Minford 41, and (6) Fairland 63 over (11) South Point 35. Division V semifinals were scheduled at the Convocation Center with (8) Wellston vs (1) Chesapeake at 6:15 p.m. and (5) Zane Trace vs (4) Eastern Brown at 8 p.m. on March 2, and (7) Portsmouth vs (2) Ironton at 6:15 p.m. followed by (6) Fairland vs (3) Wheelersburg at 8 p.m. on March 3.
Division VII produced lopsided wins and an overtime thriller in its Feb. 26 quarterfinals at host sites. Southern topped East (Sciotoville Community) 79-20; Whiteoak beat Ironton St. Joe 73-40; Notre Dame defeated Trimble 67-37; Western defeated Miller in a game recorded as 76-55 in one schedule and 72-56 in another; South Webster beat New Boston 71-64; Manchester beat Clay 64-51; Fairfield beat Federal Hocking 78-51; and South Gallia edged Green 85-79 in overtime. Division VII semifinals were scheduled at Southeastern High School with Whiteoak vs Southern and Western vs Notre Dame listed for March 2 at 6:15 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Manchester vs South Webster and South Gallia vs Fairfield listed for March 3 at 6:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tournament records show a few explicit conflicts requiring confirmation before finalizing championship logistics: the Belpre at Waterford matchup appears under different division headers and dates in competing schedule listings, and the Western-Miller score and Trimble seed number differ across bracket sources. With Division IV matchups already set for the Convocation Center and Division V and VII semifinals scheduled March 2-3 at the Convocation Center and Southeastern High School, those clarifications matter for fans and local schools tracking travel, ticketing and bracket advancement as the region moves toward championship games.
