Texhoma ISD February Dates: Book Fair, Conferences, Two No-School Days, Early Dismissal
Texhoma ISD posted February events, a book fair, parent/teacher conferences and two teacher staff development no-school days, and issued an early 12:30 p.m. dismissal for safety reasons.

Texhoma ISD has posted its February calendar with events families should plan around and a safety-driven early dismissal notice that affects bus schedules and student supervision. The district listed a Book Fair scheduled for Feb. 12–18 and Parent/Teacher Conferences Feb. 16–18, and it announced two Teacher Staff Development no-school days on Feb. 20 and Feb. 27.
The district’s feed included a full statement about an early dismissal: “After careful consideration, Texhoma ISD has determined that an early dismissal at 12:30 p.m. is in the best interest of student and staff safety due to hazardous road conditions. Buses will run as usual, and all students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.” That notice makes transportation and childcare logistics central concerns for families in this rural community, where many households rely on school schedules for supervision and meals.
Texhoma Elementary serves 161 students with 11 teachers, for a student-to-teacher ratio of 14.3 to 1. The school’s meal program data show 72 students on free lunch and 33 on reduced lunch. Those figures underline why schedule changes matter beyond convenience: missed school hours can disrupt students who depend on school meals, and sudden dismissals or no-school days can strain families who work outside the home or lack local childcare options.
County travel and weather have already shaped operations this winter. The district’s earlier weather bulletin warned that “As of now, we plan on having a full day of school tomorrow, January 23. Depending on the storm, we could dismiss early on Friday, January 23. We are watching the weather and will make the best decision we can as early as possible.” The feed also carried a community transport note: “First Christian Chuch would like to remind parents that the Monday church will be held today, January 5th. The school will provide a shuttle bus to transport participating students to the church. If your student will not be attending, please contact the school so we can make adjustments to our shuttle list.”
For parents and caregivers, the immediate steps are practical: note the Feb. 12–18 Book Fair and Feb. 16–18 conference window, arrange supervision for the no-school professional development days on Feb. 20 and Feb. 27, and prepare for any short-notice dismissals by confirming pickup plans. The district lists its contact details for questions and confirmations as P O BOX 10080, Texhoma, TX 73960, and phone +1 (806) 827-7400.
Teacher staff development days are intended to strengthen instruction and support student outcomes, but in Texhoma and other rural, remote districts the benefits must be weighed against immediate family needs and access to services. Families should confirm specific campus plans with Texhoma ISD, watch weather updates closely, and coordinate with school transportation since the district has stated that buses will run as usual when dismissals are called.
