The Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort Opens with 63 Ski-in/Ski-out Rooms
The Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort opened Jan. 30, 2026 with 63 ski-in/ski-out rooms, expanding local lodging and tying into 60 acres of new terrain and future lift additions.

Summit County travelers and residents now have a new slopeside lodging option at Sundance: The Inn at Sundance Mountain Resort opened on Jan. 30, 2026, offering 63 ski-in/ski-out rooms located at the base of the Outlaw Express lift. The new-build property anchors the Resort Village with two wings connected by a footbridge that spans the North Fork Provo River and provides slopeside views toward Mount Timpanogos.
The project represents a concentrated, asset-light expansion of the resort’s overnight capacity. Sixty-three rooms add discrete overnight inventory to Sundance’s lodging mix, complementing the resort’s cottages and mountain homes and creating a closer, all-season base for dining and cultural amenities such as the Art Studio & Gallery, The Springs, Owl Bar, Foundry Grill and the Tree Room. The Inn is credited to BSA Architects, with resort messaging stressing a design approach that "balances development and preservation" and honors founder Robert Redford’s legacy.
The timing matters for county economics. A modest increase in rooms directly affects hotel room-night supply, local spending and seasonal employment. More on-site rooms typically translate into longer guest stays and higher per-visit spending at on-mountain restaurants and retail outlets, boosting sales and lodging-tax receipts that fund county services. The Inn’s ski-in/ski-out positioning improves guest convenience and could raise weekday occupancy if lift-access demand extends beyond peak holiday windows.
The lodging launch is part of a broader mountain investment that includes 60 acres of new beginner and expert terrain and a new run called Storyteller, which drops 1,800 vertical feet. Resort leadership has indicated that Storyteller will open when snow conditions permit, describing it as a groomed, double-blue back-mountain run. Looking ahead, Sundance plans to debut the Electric Horseman, a high-speed quad lift in the Winter 2026-27 season that will add an additional 105 acres of terrain. These on-mountain improvements expand skiable acreage and diversify terrain offerings, which can raise the resort’s competitive position relative to nearby operators and support year-over-year visitor growth.
Operational context remains practical. Late-season snow variability delayed some lift openings regionally and affected early-season visitation; resort lifts were closed during a dry November snapshot and the property moved from a building phase into guest operations as snow allowed. The Inn’s marketing materials and resort communication indicate rooms are being accepted for booking; residents or visitors with questions can reach the resort team by phone at (801) 225 4107 or consult the resort’s online booking channels.
For Summit County, the Inn is both a place-making investment and an economic lever. In the near term, expect incremental jobs in hospitality and more demand for restaurant and retail staff. Over the medium term, the combined package of new lodging and terrain expansion positions Sundance to capture a larger share of Utah mountain tourism as the Electric Horseman and Storyteller come online. Local officials and businesses will want to track occupancy trends and tax receipts this season to gauge the full fiscal impact.
