Three-Year-Old Hillary Marks 400-Plus Days at Cherryland Humane Still Awaiting Adoption
Hillary, a three-year-old dog, has been at Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City for more than 400 days and is available for fostering or adoption.

Hillary has been in Cherryland Humane Society’s care in Traverse City for more than 400 days and remains available for fostering or a forever home through adoption. The three-year-old has been highlighted as one of the shelter’s longest residents in a community feature that ran earlier this month.
The profile aired March 2, 2026 as part of WPBN/WGTU’s "Adoption Options" series on UpNorthLive, a regular segment produced by Adam Fierens and Roxanne Werly. Adoption Options is sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus! The station’s copy framed Hillary as a long-stay dog the shelter hopes to spotlight for potential fosters and adopters.
“Hillary is a happy, smart and fun-filled pup who has been at the Cherryland Humane Society for more than 400 days,” the station wrote on its YouTube and Facebook posts and in the UpNorthLive page. Shelter staff says Hillary is always excited to greet new people with a friendly smile. She is also always ready to play!
Speaking directly about Hillary’s behavior and weekend fosters, Naomi Lawson-Pobuda who is the Communications and Marketing Manager for Cherryland Humane Society offered the shelter’s assessment in the WPBN/WGTU piece: “Sometimes she'll go into a foster home on the weekend and they always report that she's just super well-behaved,” said Naomi Lawson-Pobuda who is the Communications and Marketing Manager for Cherryland Humane Society. “Right now you can see she's got a lot of energy, she's excited to meet you and she just loves to be given a job, but she does settle really well. She could be in the office and take a nap if she goes into a foster home they talk about how she does really well and settles nicely also.”

The segment’s online presence included screenshots and a video player placeholder on the WPBN page, and the same lead line was posted to the station’s Facebook and YouTube channels, increasing visibility across social platforms. The UpNorthLive page also carried a short facts block noting, plainly, “Hillary is three‑years-old” and “Hillary is available for fostering and would love a forever home through adoption.”
By profiling Hillary as a long-term resident in Traverse City, the March 2 feature underscored Cherryland Humane Society’s efforts to move dogs out of long stays and into homes or foster arrangements. As of the broadcast date, the shelter’s messaging emphasized Hillary’s energy, trainability and tendency to settle well in foster care as key points for potential adopters and foster families to consider.
