Titanique sails onto Broadway with campy Celine Dion parody
Marla Mindelle brought Céline Dion back to the St. James, where Titanique opened a 16-week Broadway run after winning major awards in London and New York.

Titanique opened its Broadway run at the St. James Theatre with Marla Mindelle reprising her turn as Céline Dion in a send-up of Titanic that has already built a loyal following on both sides of the Atlantic. The show began previews on March 26 and opened April 12 for a limited 16-week engagement in Manhattan.
The musical retells James Cameron’s 1997 film through Dion’s perspective, pairing her songbook with camp humor and a wide-open parody of Jack and Rose’s doomed romance. Mindelle leads a cast that also includes Jim Parsons, Deborah Cox, Melissa Barrera, Frankie Grande, Constantine Rousouli, John Riddle and Layton Williams, with additional background vocalists and understudies announced in late February.
Titanique was created by Mindelle, Rousouli and Tye Blue, who also directs. Its Broadway transfer followed a run that started Off-Broadway in June 2022 at The Asylum Theatre before moving to the Daryl Roth Theatre, where it grew into a cult favorite. The production then traveled to London’s West End, where performances began at the Criterion Theatre on Dec. 9, 2024, and opening night followed on Jan. 9, 2025.

The show’s awards history has helped fuel the move to Broadway. In 2023, Titaníque won three Lucille Lortel Awards, including Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical and Outstanding Costume Design. In 2025, it won the Olivier Award for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play, and Layton Williams earned an Olivier for his performance.
The Broadway launch puts a glossy New York spotlight on a production that has been built on exaggeration, nostalgia and a precise kind of theatrical mischief. For a spring run that began with previews in late March, Titanique arrived at the St. James with the momentum of a show that has already proved it can travel, while keeping its joke intact.
