Tonopah Dental Center Provides Free Screenings and Education to Elementary Students

Tonopah Dental Center volunteers visited Tonopah Elementary School on Feb. 27, 2026, providing free dental screenings and an educational overview to students, the clinic reported. The Original Report described the visit as "part of ongoing efforts to improve access to oral," and staffers worked alongside elementary school personnel during the outreach.
The school visit ties into a larger effort by the Nevada Dental Foundation, which began work on what will be Tonopah’s only clinic specializing in dental care in mid-2021. Though the foundation noted it "has taken more than two years," officials say the Tonopah Dental Center is ready to serve northern Nye County patients who previously had to travel hours to see a dentist.
Clinic staff outlined the scope of services planned at the new facility. Romero said, "We will offer a wide range of comprehensive treatments, such as preventative cleanings, fillings, root canals, crowns, extractions and full/partial dentures, among other services." Residents can schedule appointments by calling 775-530-9602, clinic materials state.
The Tonopah Dental Center will mark its opening with a community event. The entire community is welcome at the center’s grand opening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 at 825 S. Main St. in Tonopah, the announcement says. Clinic organizers have emphasized the event as an opportunity for families to tour the facility and for northern Nye County patients to learn about local scheduling and services.

Visuals released with the announcement include a photo credited "Special to the Tonopah Times" that shows two dental chairs inside the Tonopah Dental Center. The Nevada Dental Foundation release and local coverage describe Tonopah as among the dozens of underserved rural communities in Nevada that the new clinic aims to serve by reducing travel burdens for dental care.
With free student screenings conducted at Tonopah Elementary on Feb. 27 and the clinic located at 825 S. Main St. ready to open to the public, organizers say northern Nye County residents will no longer have to travel hours for basic and restorative dental care.
