Tractor Supply Company held a ribbon-cutting Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, to open its new Copperas Cove store at 917 W. Business 190, and the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation is providing a $70,250 development grant to extend wastewater service to the site and adjacent properties, Lynette Sowell reported for the Cove Leader-Press. The store is expected to create about 15 local jobs, with at least half of those positions full time, Sowell wrote.

The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce led the ceremony, which drew Mayor Dan Yancey, city councilmembers John Hale and Christina Strohfus, and Fred Welch, executive director of the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation, according to the Cove Leader-Press. The building sits across Highway 190 from Christian House of Prayer; a community event listing used a variant address of 917 W Highway 190. Like Steele, Avila is happy that this store is close to home in Copperas Cove. “My team and myself just want to make sure that we’re providing legendary customer service to all of y’all. If y’all ever have anything specific y’all need, you know, reach out to me. Reach out to my team. We’re more than willing to help,” Avila told attendees, Sowell reported.

Local hiring began as construction wrapped up. Matthew Coolman, membership and marketing coordinator for the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, said the opening was tentatively set for the second half of February and that Tractor Supply had begun hiring, Ethan Housewright reported for KDH News. Job postings visible on the company’s careers site at the time included two team leader positions, a team member position, and a merchandising sales associate, KDH News noted; the Cove Leader-Press estimated total store staffing at about 15 positions.

KDH News, citing Tractor Supply’s corporate website, reported national context for the new store: the company listed 2,364 stores in 49 states, more than 52,000 team members as of September 2025, and a Fortune 500 ranking of 296. KDH News also noted this will be the second Tractor Supply store in Coryell County.

The CCEDC’s $70,250 grant, Sowell reported, is intended to invest in wastewater infrastructure and “help jumpstart development in the area” by extending sewer service to neighboring parcels. City and economic development leaders at the ribbon-cutting framed the project as both a jobs boost for Copperas Cove and an enabling step for further commercial growth along West Business 190.
