Urgent blood drive at Rockwall County Library seeks donors
Carter BloodCare will bring a mobile donation bus to the Rockwall County Library on Jan. 22 to collect urgently needed blood types and platelets.

Rockwall County is asking residents to give blood next week as a mobile Carter BloodCare donation bus will be parked at the Rockwall County Library parking lot on Thursday, Jan. 22. The drive runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1215 E. Yellowjacket Lane, and county officials flagged an urgent need for O negative, A negative, B positive and platelet donations.
The county issued the alert on Jan. 15 and linked directly to Carter BloodCare’s scheduling page for the Rockwall stop. Appointments are required and are listed in 15-minute increments through the Carter BloodCare system. Donors can select a convenient slot online and will find the standard donor eligibility and preparation information on the scheduling interface.
Rockwall County provided a local coordinator for the effort. Marcine McCulley can be reached at mmcculley@rockwallcountytexas.com or by phone at 972-204-7700 for questions about where to park, check-in procedures, or to confirm appointment details. The mobile unit will operate from the library parking lot to make donation convenient for people who live and work in the county.
Local blood drives supply hospitals and emergency services across the region, and a shortfall in specific blood types can affect patient care from surgeries to trauma and oncology treatments. By targeting types O negative, A negative and B positive along with platelets, the county and Carter BloodCare aim to shore up inventories that are frequently in high demand.
Donors should plan to bring a photo ID and to meet Carter BloodCare’s health and travel eligibility guidelines posted on its scheduling page. Appointments in 15-minute windows help maintain social distancing and steady flow through the mobile unit during the six-hour window.
For Rockwall County residents, this drive offers a nearby, scheduled opportunity to support local hospitals and neighbors in need. Those who can give are encouraged to book a slot through the Carter BloodCare scheduling page or contact the county coordinator listed in the announcement. Continued community participation will determine whether future drives are needed this winter, so scheduling a donation now helps keep local blood supplies stable.
