VISIONF Delivers Gloriamaris: Solar-Electric E-Cat 80 Built for Exploration
VISIONF Yachts delivered Gloriamaris, a 24-metre solar-electric E-Cat 80 built for extended, low-emission exploration and long-range cruising.

VISIONF Yachts has delivered its second fully solar-electric E-Cat 80, Gloriamaris, a 24-metre lightweight carbon-fibre catamaran configured as a semi-custom exploration platform for extended cruising. The build emphasizes quiet, low-emission operation, onboard redundancy for bluewater passages, and owner-driven features aimed at remote destinations.
Propulsion centers on twin Danfoss 180 kW electric motors designed for close-quarters maneuverability and smooth cruising, with typical cruise speeds in the 6-8 knot range. The new build expands solar capacity to 63 high-output panels, cited as producing around 25.2 kW/h under ideal conditions, tied into a large battery bank to maximize periods of fully electric navigation and minimize generator hours. For long-range reliability, Gloriamaris carries twin 150 kW generators and a 5-ton fuel reserve, a combination VISIONF quotes as delivering up to about 3,500 nautical miles when generators are used.
Interior and deck layouts preserve the catamaran’s generous internal volume with flexible accommodation plans ranging from four to six staterooms and up to 10 guests. Finishes lean warm and minimalist, and social zones include multiple flybridge seating areas with owner options for a jacuzzi or outdoor cinema. Practical support for expedition-style cruising comes in the form of a 15 m² tender garage with hydraulic hatch, enabling larger tenders and easy water access.
Owner customization on Gloriamaris reflects a focus on family life and active cruising. The owner specified a dedicated music room housing a piano and harp, a custom dive cabinet plumbed to a high-capacity compressor for fast fills in remote locations, and a kids’ room for family voyaging. Those additions underline how the E-Cat 80 platform can be tailored to specific mission profiles, from dive support and research logistics to multi-generational cruising.
Practical value for owners and operators is straightforward. Solar regeneration cuts fuel consumption and acoustic signature while at anchor or on passage, electric motors improve docking control and comfort, and generator redundancy plus a substantial fuel reserve make extended passages achievable without sacrificing safety. For charter operators and owners targeting remote cruising grounds, the combination of electric propulsion, robust power generation, and significant tender capacity broadens itinerary possibilities and guest experience.
VISIONF’s delivery of Gloriamaris signals continued maturation of solar-electric catamaran design into real-world expedition roles. Expect the E-Cat 80 platform to attract owners who want silent running, lower emissions, and the flexibility to outfit interiors and mission systems for diving, family cruising, or boutique charter operations.
