Wake County Libraries Announce Women’s History Month Events, Author Talks, Kids Programs
Wake County Public Libraries will stage 21 free Women’s History Month programs in March 2026, including virtual talks, a Hidden Figures screening at Leesville Library, and a lighthouse craft for K–5 students.

Wake County Public Libraries published a slate of 21 free programs for Women’s History Month in March 2026, a mix of virtual and in-person events that include author talks, historian presentations, panels, family programs and children’s activities. The system is also promoting curated booklists and social-media highlights under the hashtag #WomensHistoryMonth.
Susan Evans, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, said, “Wake County Public Libraries is bringing Women's History Month to life with engaging programs that highlight the achievements and impact of women throughout history. We invite the community to join us in learning about these incredible stories.” The library system posted on its official Facebook page announcing the program series and the curated booklists.
Among the programs, NC Women at War is scheduled March 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. as a virtual presentation for adults. Military archivist Ashley Latta Post will use original records and photographs from the State Archives of North Carolina to "highlight stories of women’s service, leadership, and sacrifice - from support roles on the Homefront to frontline contributions including accounts from the Revolutionary War to present day."
An author talk with Jennifer Dasal is set for March 12 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. as a virtual event for adults; the listing identifies the program specifically as an Author Talk. On March 21 the system will host a family-friendly screening of Hidden Figures from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Leesville Community Library, 5105 Country Trail, Raleigh; the PG film celebrates the Black women who worked at NASA and is listed as part of the Women’s History Month lineup.
Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can attend K–5th Adventures: Lighthouses on March 23 from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. at North Regional Library, 7009 Harps Mill Road, Raleigh, where participants will learn about women lighthouse keepers and make a mini lighthouse that lights up. Space is limited; attendees are asked to arrive early and pick up free tickets at the Youth Services desk for that program.
A virtual history presentation titled No Mail, Low Morale: The History of LTC Charity Adams and the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion is scheduled March 27 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., focusing on the wartime work of LTC Charity Adams and the 6888th unit.
All events in the March slate are free to attend; some programs require registration or pre-registration and some are virtual while others are held in person. The full schedule, event descriptions and registration links are available on the Wake County Libraries events page — select "Women's History Month" from the Event Category drop-down to view all 21 listings and sign-up instructions for individual programs.
