Warrant Issued for Danny Asher After Ryan Huff Found Shot
Perry County deputies found 33-year-old Ryan Huff dead from a gunshot wound behind a car at the Bubby/Buddy Combs Apartments; a murder warrant seeks 43-year-old Danny Harold Asher, alias "Blue."

Perry County deputies found Ryan Huff dead from a gunshot wound at the Bubby/Buddy Combs Apartments on Darfork Road, and investigators have obtained an arrest warrant charging 43-year-old Danny Harold Asher with murder in the case. Reports identify the apartment area near 15 Darfork Road and list Asher’s last known address in the Bonnyman community.
Sheriff Joe Engle said deputies were called to an altercation at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bubby Combs apartment building near 15 Darfork Road. When deputies arrived, Engle said one man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest area; the victim was later identified as Ryan Huff.
Resident Donnie Napier said he heard a single shot outside his window and then found Huff lying behind his car. “I was just playing on the phone and I heard one shot. I got up and looked out the front window. I seen him laying here,” Napier said. Napier, who said he is CPR certified, attempted resuscitation at the scene: “So then I came down the steps and I’m CPR certified. So I was going to do CPR. When I got down here, I listened for a breath and tried to get a pulse. There’s nothing. He was already gone.” Napier added, “I don’t care what that boy did. He didn’t deserve that. Nobody deserves to be gunned down like that.”
Perry County Sheriff’s Office investigators have an active murder warrant for Danny Harold Asher, also known by the alias “Blue,” and have urged the public not to confront him. Sheriff Engle said, “If you know where Asher is, you should call 911 and not approach him.” Authorities say they believe Huff and the suspects knew one another, and officials noted those involved did not live in the apartments but were known to hang around the property.

Deputies, Kentucky State Police and Hazard City Police have been actively searching multiple areas and have followed several tips, Engle said. He described a search response to the Dollar General in the Happy community, saying, “We responded up to the Dollar General in Happy and we just had missed them. We looked on the surveillance video and did verify that they had just been there at the Dollar Store.”
Law enforcement classifies the case as an active homicide investigation; officials have not released a confirmed motive. Perry County authorities say the investigation is ongoing and are continuing to seek surveillance footage, witness statements and any additional leads that could identify other suspects who may face charges.
