Four 16-ounce Wawa beverages sold across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia may contain undeclared milk, the company announced Tuesday in a voluntary recall that poses serious risk for consumers with milk allergies.

Anyone who purchased Wawa Iced Tea Lemon (UPC 726191018425, code date May 15, 2026), Wawa Iced Tea Diet Lemon (UPC 726191018548, code date May 18, 2026), Wawa Diet Lemonade (UPC 726191055901, code date May 18, 2026) or Wawa Fruit Punch (UPC 726191018432, code date May 19, 2026) should check the UPC and code date printed on the bottle and discard any matching product. Those who have experienced an allergic reaction after drinking one of the recalled beverages should seek medical attention immediately.

Wawa said it distributed the Iced Tea Lemon SKU to 123 stores across the five states, with the other affected SKUs reaching a smaller number of locations. The company said affected inventory has been removed from shelves and disposed of by impacted stores, but the recall is intended to reach customers who may have already brought the products home.

Milk is one of the nine major food allergens recognized under federal law. Its omission from a product label can expose allergic consumers to reactions ranging from hives and swelling to difficulty breathing and anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal systemic response requiring emergency care.

A Wawa spokesperson said the company takes product safety and labeling accuracy seriously and apologized for the inconvenience to customers while the matter is resolved. Wawa said it is working to identify the source of the labeling or production error and is cooperating with public health authorities to notify affected consumers.

The recall points to a persistent vulnerability in refrigerated store-brand beverage production, where shared manufacturing lines or ingredient substitutions can introduce allergens without a corresponding update to the label. Food processors and co-packers across the grocery sector have faced mounting pressure to strengthen allergen controls and traceability systems, particularly for private-label products that carry a retailer's brand name but are often produced by third-party facilities.

Consumers with questions can reach Wawa through its customer service channels; regional health departments in the five affected states have posted recall notices with store-level distribution information and guidance on refunds and exchanges.
