Woman ejected and killed in Fuquay-Varina rollover; two hospitalized
A backseat passenger was ejected and died after a single-vehicle rollover on Judd Parkway NW in Fuquay-Varina; the driver and a front-seat passenger were taken to hospitals.

A woman seated in the back of a car was ejected and pronounced dead after a single-vehicle rollover on Judd Parkway NW in Fuquay-Varina, police said. The crash, reported just before 12:15 a.m. Sunday, occurred on Judd Parkway NW between Coley Farm Road and Wilbon Road and left a heavily damaged vehicle that appeared to have rolled several times.
Fuquay-Varina officers who arrived at the scene found the car overturned with significant damage; emergency crews temporarily shut down lanes on the parkway while firefighters and medics worked the scene. The driver and a front-seat passenger were transported to local hospitals with injuries; authorities have not released their names, ages or current medical conditions.
Fuquay-Varina police say preliminary investigation points to excess speed as the likely cause, with investigators focusing on how the driver lost control on that stretch of Judd Parkway NW. The crash remains under active investigation, and investigators are examining speed, roadway conditions and witness accounts as they reconstruct what happened.
Authorities have not released the identity of the woman who died or announced any charges in connection with the rollover. The News & Observer and Herald Sun reported the fatality in a brief bulletin that said details are under investigation; that account used different wording about timing than the police-provided timeline used by WRAL and Hoodline.

Some syndicated outlets published an apparently separate account of a crash on Highway 401 that named a 22-year-old woman, Melissa Liegeot, and reported a roughly 9:45 a.m. incident in which a vehicle struck a mailbox and a tree. Because that report lists a different road, a different time and a different crash mechanism, it appears to describe a separate incident rather than the Judd Parkway rollover; Wake County and state trooper confirmations have not tied the two reports together.
Witnesses and anyone with video from the Judd Parkway area are being asked to contact police. “Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fuquay-Varina Police Department at 919-552-3191.” Hoodline also urged: “Anyone who witnessed the crash or captured video in the area is urged to contact police through the town’s non-emergency line.”
Investigators from the Fuquay-Varina Police Department will release additional details as they finalize the crash report and coordinate with the Wake County coroner and responding EMS units. Officials did not provide vehicle make or ownership details at the scene; police recommend that people who were in the Judd Parkway NW area just before 12:15 a.m. on March 1 check for any dashcam or phone footage and contact the department to assist reconstruction efforts.
