The Yorkshire Wolds Railway will stage its ninth annual Model Railway Show at the Rix Pavilion, Driffield Showground, YO25 9DN, on Saturday 14 March 2026, running from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The event is the main fundraiser for the heritage line, with adult admission set at £10 while children 16 and under and YWR members enter free.

Katy Bowser, business development director for Yorkshire Wolds Railway, said, “This year's show will feature 16 great model railways, including many new ones.” She added that “the show will also have a number of trade stands, and light refreshments will be available,” underscoring the family-friendly and trade-focused mix visitors can expect. The YWR site describes the line-up as “a variety of working layouts in popular scales and themes,” reinforcing the hands-on displays planned for the Rix Pavilion.

The model show also serves as a calendar marker for the 2026 operating season. Phil Robson, finance director at YWR, said, “The first public running day for the YWR of 2026 will be Sunday 5 April, and from then on, the site will be open and running trains every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the end of October. Additionally, many special event days have been added to the calendar, including opening the site fully every Wednesday during school holidays. All trains run subject to availability, and we can’t wait to welcome people back to Fimber Halt.” The March 14 fundraiser therefore precedes and helps support that wider running programme.

Organisers point to the show’s fundraising role: proceeds help maintain the attraction and support restoration work. For donations or more information the railway lists a contact phone number, 01377 338053, and the Yorkshire Wolds Railway website hosts the full event listing and a downloadable poster to advertise the show. Local coverage noted the exhibition in advance; Great Driffield Radio published a local preview on 4 March 2026 describing the show as a fundraiser and noting event details.

The model show builds on a history of community interest: Yorkshire Post coverage of the 2023 event described that year as the sixth show and reported roughly 500 visitors, with layouts reflecting local settings such as Filey and Hessle. Matthew Brown, membership, media and archive director, said in 2023, “We had some really positive feedback from visitors and everybody that came, enjoyed their day with us. We are really grateful for all the support as you never know how many people will come to these things.”

Yorkshire Wolds Railway also welcomes new members and volunteers ahead of the public running season. With 16 layouts, trade stands, light refreshments and a clear fundraising brief, organisers expect the March 14 show at Driffield to boost funds and momentum for the April 5 season opener at Fimber Halt.
